Do you still think of it everyday??

It has been almost 10 weeks since my surgery (isn't it funny, we all know exactly how many weeks it's been since our surgeries!? In the past, I would have NEVER known that Nov 29th was 10 weeks ago this Friday! ) It's weird though, everyday when I wake up I think of my hysterectomy and it's with me in the back of my mind all day long. Basically, I'm feeling pretty good and am back to my normal schedules, work, etc...but I am still thinking about my surgery all the time!!

My irritability and moodiness is getting better (finally those ovaries started working again) but of course, I still have my moments. For example, I am NOT a morning person. I am a night owl all the way (it's 1:25 am right now). However, my DH is a morning person, all chipper and happy....well, one morning not too long ago he's up and getting ready for work and I drag out of bed to get the kids up for the school bus and he's like "Good morning, dear......sleep well?" And I about bit his head off. I was like "What are you so happy about?!!" He just chuckled a bit (knowing how I am in the morning) and said "SOMEONE has to be Little Mary Sunshine here in the mornings." Now that I look back, it's funny. Especially thinking of how I looked. Just out of bed...hair sticking out everywhere...still sore from surgery....dog tired.....dark circles......and GROUCHY! He's been so great to me during the whole ordeal. Sorry to have gotten off the subject but just thought I'd share my little story with you. God Bless everyone.

Do you still think of it everyday??

I agree with you on this whole thing. I had my surgery 8 months ago, and the fact that I know that, is strange to me. It feels very similar to when my son was born. Those first two years are done in months and all that. You look forward to when you can just say that they are three. Anyway, you are still recovering so give yourself time. And it does look like you laugh at the whole thing. My DH and I do that all the time as well. Just remember that you feel better now then you ever did before. And I really don't mess dealing with all that period stuff every month. I will deal with being a little strange with now over that. And my DH would say this isn't new for I was strange before.

Take Care,

Steffi

Nearly 4 months....

and I still think about it everyday. I'm so happy that I'm not as sick as I was before but at this stage I feel as though I've got a long way to go before I can honestly say I'm completely healed. I'm a bit down at the moment.

Hi Tami,

I'm 8 1/2 MONTHS post-op now. (I can't remember how many weeks anymore, I quit counting those at around 16 weeks and went to counting months instead.) For awhile, I did think of the surgery every single day. Now, the only time I think about it is when I pick up something too heavy and get a little twinge of pain in my abdomen, or when I see my scar, which isn't often.

Logging onto Hyster Sisters does keep reminding me, otherwise, I'd probably never think about it.

And I must tell you, I feel wonderful!! I have regained the energy I lost pre-op to anemia, my tummy isn't hugh from the fibroids, I no longer have the pain and the mess of heavy periods. And my ovaries have resumed their normal function and my hormones have stabilized and I don't have PMS anymore! It was well worth it all!

Someday, you'll look back and you won't be able to remember how many weeks it's been. And someday, you'll forget all about it for days and weeks on end. You'll be beyond the Land of Hyster and well on your way to a new life!

Best wishes and s,

Lisa

Do you still think of it everyday??

Thank you for posting. I'm glad I am NOT THE ONLY ONE who measures time and always has it in the back of their mind.
(5 1/2 weeks for me)

Do you still think of it everyday??

I'm a little over 20 weeks post op and for awhile I did think about the surgery a lot, but now I really dont think about it unless I happen to pick up something too heavy or bend wrong and get a lilttle twinge, just a little something to remind me... Last week tho I realized I hadnt had a period in almost 6 months (skipped the month before surgery), and that I would NEVER have one again!! Whoo! Hoo!! No more pads, planning my life around my periods, etc... Now that thought is cause for celebration!! I have more energy, am not in pain all the time, and just wish I'd done this 5 yrs ago when the problems started!! Take Care
