I don't know what to do anymore.....(LONG-SORRY)

I am not sure what is wrong with me anymore. I went through a really stressful time about a year ago and the dr. prescribed prozac. It really seemed to make a difference in my outlook and things got better. Then in January I started having severe pain (again) from my periods and finally had the hyst in May. I had to have everything removed because of cysts, fybroids, pre-carcinoma cells, and endo. Now I am in some form of battle again. I don't sleep at night hardly at all and in the morning when I need to get up to get ready for work I am almost in tears because I am soooooo tired! The Gyno has changed my estrogen levels 4 times and prescribed prometrium before bed. I hate taking so many pills especially when I can't even figure out if they are doing anything. I am not having any other menopause symptoms such as hotflashes. But my co-workers say I am different. (I think they are different myself because they all want to be 20 even though they are older... but that is another tale.) I am going to my family dr on Friday. But I am wanting to just quit my job (my dh is having fits on that one). I am not sure how much more I can take. If anyone has any input I would really appreciate it.

Were you that tired before starting the Prometrium? There are a small percentage of women who cannot take the usual prescribed amount of natural progesterone, and an even smaller number who can't take it at all. I'm one of the latter. I get so groggy, depressed, desperate feeling, and achey that I am practically certifiable after a few days. I know this is a long shot, but just be aware that if you felt worse since the prometrium that might be what's going on for you. In any event, have you been over to the hormone jungle board? There are some wonderful and knowledgeable women over there who can help you sort this out. It is overwhelming, I know.

Hi and sorry you are still having problems. I'm not sure what to suggest except that it does sound like you have some kind of hormonal imbalance there - did your gyn change the type of estrogen you were on or the dosage? It's possible that your estrogen levels are a bit high (that's as long as you don't have any signs to the contrary). If it is high then it could be making you unable to sleep. Kathy always says estrogen for energy so maybe that's keeping you awake (yet you are tire from no sleep in the morning) :brainfog: hope that makes sense to you! I guess he gave you the prometrium to balance it out. A lot of the gals found that a progesterone cream was better for them than the 'artificial' one. They do have a lot of collective knowledge over there in the Hormone Jungle and whilst sometimes it's not easy finding a balance it can be achieved. Don't give up - read as much as you can and take in all the advice, do some experimenting yourself to find that balance. It's different for everyone but attainable.
