post op nausea

Hello,
I'm around 2.5 weeks post op and have been having nausea for over a week now. It completely reminds me of morning sickness where I'll feel like I'm going to throw up and I'll eat something, feel a little better for a short time but then right back to feeling the nausea again. The only thing that seems to make me feel better is being asleep. I mentioned this at my 2 week appointment to my Dr. but she was so concerned about the pain I'm having with bowel movements and urination that we didn't talk about the nausea. It has gotten worse since my 2 week check up and now the Dr. is on vacation.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? I kept my right ovary so I didn't think I would have hormone issues.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

post op nausea

I, too, had nausea. At first I carried around a "barf bowl" it was so intense. Gradually it got better and now I'm just over 4 weeks and haven't had nausea feeling for about a week. Peppermint tea and ginger ale helped me feel better.

Incidently, I have right ovary as well.

Good Luck.

I also experienced nausea for about 2 wks. post-op. Try eating popsicles, that helped me, even in the middle of the night. Also, what medications are you taking? Remember, everything was moved around during your surgery, so your insides are bruised, and agitated.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for your replies.
I stopped taking all pain meds. Am taking Bentyl for bowel spasms, multi vitamin, calcium and elmiron (for interstitial cystitis).
I'll continue to hang in there.
