Need Help....Pathology Report

2 weeks post op and I had my dh go by the castle yesterday and pick up a copy of my surgery report and pathology report.

I am thoroughly confused. Is there any web-site out there that would put this thing into laymans terms for me? The pathology report has a lot of things that I don't understand and I don't know how to find the answers.

I see my Dr. next Friday but certainly would like to understand this pathology report before I see him.

In the microscopic description category it says: The endometrium is secretory phase characterized by convoluted glands with intraluminal secretions embedded in a spindled and edematous stroma.

Does anybody have a clue as to what this means?

Thanks for your help

Need Help....Pathology Report

Hi Terry!

I can understand completely your wanting to know what all this means! The best answers are going to come from your DR , of course, but I would go to www.google.com and type in some of those terms as keywords to get more info on what they mean.

Good luck sweetie!

meaning

I would call the Dr. and ask what it means. He/she could tell you over the phone and then you wouldn't have to wait. My Dr.'s nurse takes the message and then Dr. calls back after or between office hours. I'm pushy this way but I get results. Best wishes, Barbara

Medical Library:
http://webmd.lycos.com/library

On-line Medical Dictionary:

Need Help....Pathology Report

It sounds like you had adenomyosis and were just getting ready for or were in the middle of ovulation (that's the "secretory phase" part of it). The rest is a description of the tissue characteristics during that phase, although "edematous stroma" suggests swelling and thickening -- which could be due to adenomyosis.

Without hearing the rest of it, I'm guessing adenomyosis? Your best bet is to ask, but this is hard to interpret just on the basis of this one statement. Really all this statement describes is the uterus at a particular phase of your cycle.

Good luck getting some answers for yourself!!
