Kept 2 healthy ovaries, have hot flashes
I kept both ovaries, and Dr says they're very healthy. I'm 34, had a LAVH and TVT on 1/31/03, 2 weeks ago.
Last night I had hot flashes and sweats for about 30 minutes, took some of the pain reliever sent home with me and took a hot shower and it helped me get back to sleep.
Concerned about early menopause and taking HRTs, how long if the ovaries go into "shock" is it normal for them to bounce back?
I don't feel any mood swings that I've noticed, but I do get terrible headaches in the afternoon since I've been home.
I am calling the Dr first thing Monday, since their office is out of touch on the weekends unless ER, so I wanted to get some advice from you lovely ladies, who have so far helped me through this whole thing from decisions I've made to support in the aftermath.
P.S. - Otherwise my healing and recovery has been extremely easy, and I feel fine otherwise!

Kept 2 healthy ovaries, have hot flashes
Hi Cheryl! You're smart to follow up on this right away... the headaches can be due to low estrogen in some cases. There is a simple blood test your DR can do to find out if your ovaries are producing hormones or not. If not, some temporary HRT may be in order.
The ovaries go into shock because removing the uterus compromises their blood supply. They have to find another way to get the 'nourishment' they need in order to work properly. This typically could take several months but it varies tremendously, and occasionally it doesn't happen at all. Let's hope yours decide to get back to business very soon!
I'm glad to hear you're otherwise feeling so good.... let's get these menopausal symptoms taken care of now and you'll feel even better!
 s,
-Linda

Thanks for the advice!
I am calling her first thing Monday, I was glad to hear your opinion since I have to wait two days! I am finally able to drive, so if I have to go see her it's not a big deal. The office is only a mile or two from my house, very close.
Thanks for your support!
