what exactly is black cohosh???????

Hi Sisters,
I'm almost 9 weeks post-op from my TVH/kept ovaries. In addition
to my on-going problem of still staining 3 pads a day with that
yellow discharge/my night sweats have returned with a vengeance!!! I wake up most nights totally soaked/pajamas/
sheets sopping wet. In some posts,I've read about black
cohosh for night sweats. What exactly is this? a tea/capsules?
is this effective/has it helped others with this problem? I see
a new doctor on the 19th./and will make sure I mention the night
sweats-along with the bigger problem of the discharge. If
anyone can give me an answer-I'd be grateful. Thanks.

I don't take it so can't be of much help Try doing a search on night sweats and you'd be amazed at what you come up with.
I'm sorry you are still having these problems and now the hot flashes too. But, am so glad that you've found another Dr. and have an appointment so soon.

Hi Tina!

I am 6 weeks post op and I remember starting up with my night sweats, headaches and insomnia about 2 weeks after the surgery.

Long story short I connected with a dietician and started on black cohosh, a multivitamin for women 45 and older and a homeopathic oral spray for menopause relief. This seemed to do the trick for me. From there I saw a naturopath who had me do a hormone level test. I am still waiting for the results.
