Discharge

I was just wondering what everybody's discharge was like. I'm two weeks post-op from a TAH and did not bleed at all afterwards but what I have had is a tanish brown liquid discharge. When I go to the bathroom and whip there is just a tiny bit and not every time but I have been wearing a pad because I get a far amount on the pad (enough not to use one). I don't feel any discharge coming out like you would with a period and thats what I find strange, I would think I would feel something come out. Is this liquid discharge normal?
Thanks, Chris

Discharge

Hi Chris

I had a TAH 11 months ago. Around 10 days I started to bleed which started bright red then went through all kinds of colours. It lasted untill I was around 4 weeks post. I went to see Dr because it got me kinda worried. His explanation was that it was from where they had stitched me inside, a scab forms over stitches then eventually comes away. The discharge I was seeing was the collection which was behind. Some ladies get a discharge and others don't see any at all.

If yours bothers you I would advise that you go and see Dr. Hope your recovery goes well.

Hugs

Jane

Discharge

Hi, Chris,

It might be good to call your doctor and report this, just in case. It's probably a normal part of the healing process, with sutures maybe starting to dissolve or other things going on, but call your doctor to make sure. That's what they're there for. Plus they need to know any changes you have, so they can help you in your recovery. Congratulations to be on the postop side. Hope you're feeling ok and not overdoing it. Treat yourself well, pamper yourself, lots of rest, naps, small walks, fluids, good nutrition - be happy and healthy. Keep us posted on how you're doing. God bless.

Discharge

Hello Chris,
I am 3wks post-op from a LAVH. Saw Doc yesterday because insurance co. wants me back at work on Mon. I asked him how long I was supposed to have a discharge after surgery. He replied that I shouldn't be having any discharge at this point. He asked me how much discharge and I explained that I was changing pantyliners 3-4 times a day. He immediately told me that he needed to "take a quick look". Upon performing a wet prep, he discovered I had bacterial vaginosis and a yeast infection. Wrote 2 scripts for medication and said that should take care of the problem. Apparently, this is not uncommon. He explained that frequently women get these infections from taking antibiotics (yes, I was on antibiotics in hospital). You might want to call your Dr.'s office and ask about your discharge. Hope this helps and that you are doing well otherwise in your recovery.

Discharge

I am at 2 weeks and have my Dr's appt in about 2 hours. I, too, had no bleeding or discharge immediately, but at about 5 days post-op or so, I started getting a tannish colored discharge. Sometimes it is light pink but nothing major there.

I think that based on what I have read, and what I will confirm today, this is perfectly normal to have some discharge at about 2-3 weeks due to the healing process that is going on inside.

I use one panty liner a day, and it isn't too bad, but I am getting sort of tired of it...can't wait til the days of pads are gone all together!

funny thing, since I am seeing the Dr today, wouldn't you know it...the discharge has slowed way down!

If I learn anything new this afternoon, I will be sure to post it.

discharge..update!

I just got back from the Dr and she said that I could have some discharge for as long as 6 weeks, and some might be red so don't become alarmed if that happens.

That's about it!!

Thanks

Thank you all for replying and thank you Laura for letting me know after your Dr. appt. I don't go and see mine until next week. I thought it was probably normal and just use one pad a day too but I just wanted to make sure. I hope you can do something about not going back to work so soon, I'm having good days but still have some pain and I'm to tired to think about having to go back to work so soon. I'm actually more tired this week than last(maybe it's bordem). Good luck. Thanks again to everybody.
