Antibiotics

Hi

Were any or all of you given antibiotics after your operations?

I wasn't and I wanted to check what the norm is.

Thanks

Antibiotics

Hi Paula,

I to was given antibiotics from the time of surgery until the day I got out of the hospital. Even after the IV bag was removed they left the needle in for the antibiotics.

Hope this helps as well.

Antibiotics

Yes, I was actually on 3 IV antibiotics...2 were for my heart murmur and I got those before/during surgery. The other one was the precautionary one, which stayed in during surgery and for the full day afterwards.

Antibiotics

I also was given antibiotics both through the IV in the hospital and by a prescription when I went home. The scrip was only for 7 days and seemed a little strong for me. My doctor said no prob...I could stop taking it after 3 days at home because he had no concerns.
