The waiting game!

I have had one D&C and an endometrial ablation sugery in the past two years due to endometriosis (trying to avoid a hysterectomy). I have been in extreme pain since spring of 2002. I went through all sorts of test to find out what was wrong. A simple ultrasound explain the mystery I have fybroids and they are causing all the pain and my constipation problems as well. My uterus is not in very good shape as well as my cervix. I have been told that I must get the hysterectomy. I have an appointment with the surgeon on March 3rd, I will find out then when my surgery date is as well as what procedure will be done. I would be very interested to hear if there are others with the same diagnosis. My nerves are jumpy and I would like to have this all behind me.

The waiting game!

Hi Strat,

Welcome to Hyster Sisters!!

While I'm sorry that you are facing surgery, I am glad that you found us and posted to say "hi".

I didn't have my hyst because of fibroids, but many, many sisters do have the same diagnosis, and I'm sure you'll hear from some of them very soon.

I do want to be sure that you have found our Pre-Op Hints and our Post-Op Hints where you will find lots of helpful information concerning surgery and recovery.

Please keep on reading and posting your questions. We'll do our best to help.

The waiting game!

I had my TAH because of fibroids. I could not take hormones to shrink the fibroids. I get mingraines. I had 3 myomectomies to remove the fibroids but the fibroids kept growing back! They tryed ablation but my uterus was too enlarged and they could not do the proceedure. After5 years 3 minor surgery's and being VERY anemic. I FINALLY DECIDED to have my uterus out!!!!!!!!!My Dr. was wonderful. And yes.......It was the best thing I ever did!!!!!I did it when I WAS ready!!!! Well Take care. And Good luck. angela

The waiting game!

Welcome - My surgery date is 3/7 and fibroids are my issue too. My pre-op is the Monday before, and because of what I have learned from this site I have armed myself with many questions.
My DR said I can't wait much longer - it seems fibroids have a mind of their own. I visit this site many times during the day (or night can't sleep much lately) and the messages of caring and sharing really help.

Re: Fybroids

Yes I was just diagnosed with fybroids in my uterus. I am bleeding non stop. They tried everything to stop the bleeding, but no luck. So I am having a hysterectomy real quick due to the loss of blood. Until then Im on iron pills to get my hemoglobin back up. Im in great pain but thanks to my wonderful Doc. he has given me pain medicine to subside the pain until my surgery which is the 28th of this month. I am actually looking forward to this and am very anxious!! Is this weird to be anxious and looking forward to a hysterectomy??

The waiting game!

Hi - like you I have had D&C, ablation, hormones you name it. I have endometriosis though, some very small fibroids - and possibly adenomyosis. I've just reached the end of the road with regards to pain - just can't live with it any more. I'm looking forward to mine too RobinCruik - nervous, but will be glad when the waiting is finally over.
