Vaginal discharge

I am 12 days post op (had TAH and BSO). Had some minor bleeding for the first three days then nothing all last week. Over the last 24 hours I have noticed some vaginal discharge - not a lot but brown in colour, a bit like the last few days of a period. Has anyone else experienced this and do you know if it is normal?? Is it a sign that anything is wrong or more rest is needed?
Other than this my recovery is going fine - I am feeling better and have to watch myself to make sure I don't do too much as my energy is gradually returning and the pain/discomfort is subsiding. My dr has cleared me to drive but I think I will wait a few more days for that.
Next week I am going away for five days to a women's healing retreat (a program for women who have had cancer - I had breast cancer last year) - am looking forward to that enourmously and feel it will be really good for my healing.
Great women on this list - have found your stories and information invaluable

Me too

I was told that this is a perfectly "normal" healing process...I still have some discharge (yellow) and it's very light...hang in there the brown stuff lasts for about 3-4 days (I even had lil pieces of stitches) and then it may change colors... Glad you're feeling good... and looking forward to something...that in it'self helps the healing!

Vaginal discharge

Yes, it's normal. I went from 10 days of bright red bleeding to a clear and sometimes pink dicharge to the brownish stuff (like the end of a period) to finally a clear, watery discharge. I had to wear pads for an entire month. I'm all clear now and no pads for the first time in my life. ( I used to wear them 24-7)
Your retreat sounds nice. Enjoy the freindship.

Vaginal discharge

Hi Janet

I have just gotten on this am to question about bleeding as well. I almost cleared up after 5 days and then I overdid it...long story... and my bleeding started again.

Now at 13 days post op I have very little blood but I do have a creamy yellow discharge and my doctor has taken a culture swab to grow it in a lab in case it is something serious. He says to watch it and if it turns really foul then I should take an antibiotic but he wants to know which nunu it is before he prescribes something... (This is my GP, Love the man he is so thorough)

What is now happening, is that I bleed only after a BM and I want to also know if this is normal.

My doctor said I could strain and that I must disregard the blood but he is also the same doctor who said that I shouldnt really move a wardrobe but if I did it shouldnt be too bad.. provided it was a one off... He really confused me. Thank heavens for this website.
