Fibroids

I have had pain for so long and it came on gradually. I have 2 large fibroids growing externally at the top of my uterus. I did not inquire as to the size. I have laproscopic pictures and can see that the one is about the size of a coffee can (3lbs). I am scheduled for a hysterectomy 3-6-2002. I am so looking forward to it. A life without pain is looking soo good.

I am new to this site and just wanted to share with everyone. I have read a few of the messages posted and can say that I sympathize with everyone. It is wonderful to find a support!!

Fibroids

Hi , welcome to Hystersisters. I had fairly small uterine tumors (about the size of lemons) so I can only imagine the trouble that large fibroids like yours cause.
Waiting is so hard but your wait is fairly short now and that should be a relief.
Please come here as often as you like, there is always someone here with info and support.
Best wishes S

Fibroids

Can't imagine a fibroid the size of a coffee can.

Mine have gotten only to golf ball size, which has been painful enough.

I saw a picture of my fibroid on a stalk in 1998 (the MD took the pix while in there for a tubal sterilization). It was butt-ugly. The funniest part was she showed my then boyfriend (now husband) teh picture before she showed me. He looked really nervous even just talking about it! I'm not sure that men are really comfortable seeing what is "under the hood" when it comes to female equipment.

Still, the guy married me - so it can't have scared him too bad!

Fibroids

Hi Teresajeffer

Welcome to Hystersisters, it's wonderful to have you here!

I'm a two time fibroid sufferer Previously I had a myomectomy to remove a fibroid the size of a grapefruit and two smaller ones. A year later new fibroids were back as well as new problems so last August I had a TAH. The path report showed adenomyosis which my doctor feels was caused by the myo.

A fibroid free life is great!! No more pain, no more heavy bleeding, no more mess. Keep up your positive attitude as it'll help in recovery.

Lots of s

Yes, I have been slowly gaining weight for about a year and half. And Yes sometimes it would happen over night. I would go to bed and the next morning none of my pants would fit. I kept telling my physician that. They just kept testing my thyroid. It was very frustrating.

Fibroids

I had several large fibroids, and what they did is wrap around my bowels so that it was extremely painful. I didn't like to eat, because I knew the end result would be a mad dash to the bathroom, accompanied by cramping that made me sick to my stomach. What a nightmare the whole thing was...My friends, sweet people that they are, supported me so much. They knew I could somewhat tolerate bland food, and would get so excited when they found something with flavor I might be able to stand. They'd buy it and bring it to work for me!!

At this point, because I lost so much weight, and my stomach has shrunk, I'm eating small amounts of food...BUT it's food I haven't had in quite some time, so it's exciting for me!! My co-workers are planning a pot luck buffet when I return to work in two weeks..They're the best!!

I continue to lose weight even though I'm eating and I've made an appointment with my so he'll be aware. 5'10" and down to 127. I had gone to 138 at the time of surgery a month ago.

All in all, though, I feel great....My surgery is the BEST thing I've ever done for myself!!

Fibroids

I had large fibroids to. ilooked like I was pregnant. I am finally getting back to normal now. I tell you I got so tired of wearing overalls!! My fibroids grew slowly over the last year and I thought I needed to do more sit ups. i started bleeding more and become weaker and then it became harder to go potty or pee. Then one day I started to feel around and decided " There is something in there" i was very anemic and a TAH was the answer. I am 9weeks post op now and feel better than I have in years
I guess i am telling you sisters this to let you know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Well and i want to tell everyone i feel great

Fibroids

Fibroids!! I had surgery in Oct for a fibroid the size of a soccer ball!! It, too, was growing outside my uterus on a stalk. Pre-op we did not know it was a fibroid. I was told it was an abdominal mass. I am so thankful that that is all it was!! Life is sooooo much better now!!

Welcome, by the way, to Hystersisters, home of the most supportive group of women anywhere!!
