18 reasons why I regret the surgery so tired.
It took me over 3 months before I started feeling even remotely good again after surgery. Recovery was really hard for me. It does take a while, but things will get better when you TOTALLY heal. I promise!

Thank you
Thank you. Tonight Dh got rid of the girls to a sleep over at the church at first it looked like one was not going to go but he pushed her out the door. Then he went to the store got treats ran a hot shower for me and gave me a back rub. We got to spent some much needed time together. When I came down he had candles lit and pop in wine glasses seeing I can't have wine due to the meds I am on. We watched a movie together and justed talked. I let out everything. I needed that today. The one person that I do talk to she vented on me today and said that I have changed since the surgery and that I am down and I carry an attitude. That I should put a smile on my face whenever anyone is around and not discuss whats wrong with me; and cover my pain and so what; if the ones from my church who I depended on for faith support havn't been there for me. I need to buck up start doing all my housework getting out and doing my regular exercise work outs again and fight the pain. Never mind that I am tired. So what if I loose my job. Take the pain meds and so the work. DH went nuts when he herad this. Well I am off to be pampered and cuddled and thanks for letting me vent. I needed it. You guys and friends of another site IBS have been such great moral support.

OH my dear poor princess!
Hi Denise. Sandi here. How are you feeling?
I feel so bad that I can't just reach into the computer and give you a real hug. So you will have to make due with cyber hugs.
(((((((((HUGS)))))))))))
I hope you got my reply on the IBS board too.
I am so glad you got to have a great talk with your dh. What a blessing he is to you. My dh is not very approachable about stuff lke that. He basically looks at me and says to me "you cried all day over stuff beyond your control, did it change things?"then if I say no he then says "then why bother". He doesn't understand that sometimes all we need to vent is a good cry and we feel a little better. He is a wonderful man but not a great shoulder. Glad for you that yours is both.
Get some much needed pamperring and get lots of rest.
I will start a prayer chain for you in the am with a couple denominations for you to get better. If you don't mind that is.
I hope you feel better soon.

I feel for you...
Denise,
So sorry to hear that you are feeling so poorly, but I can relate. I'm just over two weeks from my TVH (had belly button and two lower abdominal incisions made) but it has been almost all that you described in your post. I'm still in pain and feel as if there is no light at the end either. My ovaries were left.
I was crying to my husband a week after the surgery telling him I wished I had not had the surgery...it was that painful. I have been taking my meds, stool softners, etc., everything you listed. The only two things I haven't encountered are any infections and hematoma. I hope that does not occur.
I can only echo what seems to be repeated on the board here. We are all so different and I think it has alot to do with how we each heal. Some sooner than others. I'm a very active person. Besides being a photographer, I love yard work, bicycling, horse back riding, taking walks, etc. I never would have thought that I would still be in bed almost three weeks AFTER my surgery. But I just have to listen to my body. I think that's the best advice I've heard from everyone.
Again...if you are being seen by your physician...then I think that's good. Otherwise, (whether we like it or not) it's just going to take time and the wonderful input from these great ladies who have been so helpful here. You're also fortunate to have such a caring, kind hubby (mine has been SO wonderful through all of this).
I hope you feel well soon, Denise. I do feel for you. Let us know how you do.

You are having an awful time!
Denise, I'm so sorry that your road has all these curves. But I'm especially hopeful for you because obviously your doctor is concerned. Has he taken an X-ray to make sure nothing was left in or that nothing has moved out of place?
I'll be praying for your speedy recovery many times over this weekend. You have been through so much!
I hope you have adequate pain medication to help you over this mountain. If you have run out, you are not out of line asking your doctor to help you control any pain you might have. And it sounds like your MD is sympathetic. Sometimes these kind of bad things come to wonderful people. I hope you can feel me hugging you from a distance.

18 reasons why I regret the surgery so tired.
Hi Denise
I had hoped by now you would be feeling better. I have been following your posts since your surgery. I am sending good vibes your way in hopes that this will help with your healing process...
I do have a question - with your hematoma, depending on how big it is, why hasn't the doctor drained it? Did they find it too late and it's all coagulated? Has it deminished in size at all yet? With hematoma's they can be very painful (as you know), can still be bleeding slightly under the larger clotted portion (which could add to blood loss making you feel tired/listless/exhaused), they can also created an acute or LOWGRADE infection from the coagulated blood in the hematoma itself. This infection, if not detected can also cause a number of the symptoms you are having. Discuss this with your doctor. If they haven't done a current blood culture for infection and a serum ferritan level, NOT an iron level, ask him/her to do so. Perhaps this information could be helpful in your recovery.
Another thing I see that will go a long way, is the support your great DH has shown to you. It's exactly what you need right now. Someone who knows you, loves you, and can pamper you. The candles, wine, and conversation (without kids) goes a long way to remind us that we are sane, normal adults. Forget about the "fair weather" friends. Those who never go thru this, never can, nor ever will understand. And as far as your job goes... don't forget what the lord has told us (in so many words), when one door closes, another opens and usually it's for a very good reason!
Hugs to you - may you be on the road to good health very soon.
Melissa

Honey, You NEED a nice hot soak in the tub, whenever you want or even think you need it. Think for once about you, and let your family think about you too. Take Time. Whenever you need it. I Find even now, 1 year post op, if I Rake, paint or do something physical, I feel it. It's ok. Just a reminder to take care of myself.

18 reasons why I regret the surgery
Hi Denise-Tina here.
I read your post with interest,because a week ago, I posted a
similar one, stating why I regret having had my TVH. I don't have
18 reasons-LOL!!!!,but I'm going on 11 weeks post-op,and am still discharging the ugly yellow gunk. I'm sick of changing pads 3 times a day!!! Also, I'm on my second doctor-gynecologist. My
surgeon, after going to him for 2-post-op visits, and begging and
crying for help with this discharge problem, called me a hysterical
female, told me I need psychiatric help then dismissed me as a
patient. I called my family doctor-who happens to be my
brother-in-law,and asked him for a referral to one of his gynecologist colleagues. Well, last month-I went to Doctor #2.
He examined me thoroughly, said I'm healed completely inside,
then took 2 vaginal swab cultures. said I have Trichmonosis.
prescribed 4 pills to take- METRONIDAZOLE,2 in the morning,2 at
night-and told me to douche 2 times a week with vinegar and water. Ok- finished the pills,am douching- NO IMPROVEMENT!!
So, now he has me on a vaginal cream-which each night, I have to
insert vaginally- VERY,VERY SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT-but I'm
still discharging. I see him again on March 12th. I am totally
fed up-and at my wits end!!! I've suffered from depression for years, so my psychiatrist-she upped my dosage and also my dosage for panic disorder-which I also suffer from. I too, am
very fatigued, and on weekends-I take 2-3 hour naps so I can get
through the day. I take soy capsules, and drink soy milk-for
the night sweats and hot flashes. So-there's my story!!!
What got me
today, was I received a post from a hyster sister/she was kind of
nasty/saying she's 5 weeks post-op-TVH too,and how
absolutely wonderful she feels, no discharge or fatigue etc!!!
Basically, she asked me to stop relating my HORROR stories
to other sisters who've just had TVH's/because it brings them down! I'm a person who believes in giving honest answers to
people, whether it's positive or negative! So, hang in there-and
you're not alone!! Maybe, soon we'll both feel better!

ITs morning
Well its morning and the little DD came banging at 8:30 bright and early. Being the age that they are realized that Dh had pampered mom last nite scanned the wine glassses, pepsi bottle and treat wrappers and CD's love songs. So we got ragged on. But I just went back to sleep till 11:00 and then watched cartoons while the girls. I have decided that I am not going to take no calls from the friend today. I am not going to let her get to me. In answer to some of your questions.
Sandra: Yes I got your message on the IBS group thanks and I would appreciate the prayers. I think I need them now.
Others: I am on Ampicillin 500mg 1 pill times 4 a day and
Metronidazole 250 mg 2 pills 3 times a day for a week.
Plus pain meds when needed and all the bowel junk.
I see the doc about work release on Thursday but been told don't hold my breath. I have to return for ultrasound on the 11.
It is infected and I have been running a low grade fever which spikes when I get up and do anything of any strenght of that takes an hour. They are hoping that the hematoma is shrinking if not then they will make the decision whether they will open me up again. Don't know If I can handle another surgery. So this is were the prayers comes. Well I am off to supervise the DD cook pancakes. Now and once again thanks. Dh also says thank you for the support that your have been giving.
