Anyone had a burn from surgical tool?

I have not been around. I have had a kidney infection. Yuck !
I also suffered a burn from a surgical tool that was dropped.
Yes, left a 3rd degree burn from the Cautary (sp) tool.
I cannot care for it like a typical burn. It is not fun.
My burn is on the Labia, I cannot wear underwear and I hurt when I walk. I cannot sit for long either. Has anyone ever had any injury or anything like this, I just am curious as to how long it will take to heal. I am 3 weeks post op. and this burn is causing more pain than anything. I have recieved apologies for it..but nonetheless I hurt. I just thought it would have healed by now,
any help would be greatful. I am greatful for this site.
Thanks Ryn

Hi Ryn,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this problem. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it must be for you, especially since it is in such a sensitive area.

Has your Dr. given you any indication of how long it will take to heal? I would think that he/she would be the best one to let you know, especially since they are following you during the healing process.

The closest thing that I've ever experienced is that prior to my hyst, I had a LEEP procedure with a cone biopsy and also had a CUSA (sorry, can't remember what the letters stand for) to remove abnormal cells right behind my labia. I was forewarned by my Dr. that it would be quite painful post-operatively and he was right on target! For a full week after, just about everything was painful...sitting, walking, and passing urine especially. I was given pain pills along with a topical novacaine ointment to help. And then, it almost seemed like magic, on the 8th day I woke up and was pain free. I hope that your pain will disappear as quickly as mine.

In the meantime, I'm sending lots of gentle s !
