I know this is a strange question, but a friend of mine in her 30's who had a hysterectomy (kept ovaries) several years ago, is currently experiencing pregnancy symptoms (morning sickness, big mood swings, etc.). How could this be if she doesn't have a uterus?? Could her ovaries be shutting down & causing these symptoms?
Any advice would be welcome so I can pass it along to her.
I had one of my ovaries removed in October 2002. I too had very distinct symptoms of pregancy. I had extreme persistant nausea which wouldn't go away, mood swings, bloating & etc. I even took a pregnancy test twice. But it showed I was not pregant. This was prior to having the uterus removed.
I do not believe the signs or symptoms of pregancy are removed because the uterus is (because it's the uterus that provided the housing and nutrients for the fetus) But it's the ovaries working or out of sorts which can give you those symptoms. Perhaps you may need to talk to the MD . I 've heard of incidences of cysts on the ovary causing the same symptoms.
