What's Your Favorite Movie?

I was just sitting here watching one of my favorite movies, "Steel Magnolias" and thought I'd ask what your top three favorite movies of all time are.

My favorites and the reasons I love them are:

1. Titanic - I saw this movie 10 times in the theaters and bought it on video three times. (I kept loaning to friends and never getting it back!) I cried the first 20 times I saw it and can still get weepy watching it. I remember watching "A Night to Remember" with my mom when I was about 5 years old, and crying and saying "Oh, momma! Those people, those poor people!" Someone suggested that maybe I was a victim of the Titanic in a former life because the story touches me so deeply. Hmmm, I don't believe in reincarnation, but that's an interesting theory!

2. Steel Magnolias - I just love this movie! Being a member of that wonderful group called G.R.I.T.S (Girl Raised in The South) this movie speaks to my southern roots. I could and have watched it hundreds of times, and can turn it on at any point in the movie and watch it.

3. When Harry Met Sally - This one reminds me of my best friend (a guy) and I. As a matter of fact, the first time I watched it was with him. We have the same type of friendship going as the characters in the movie, though I doubt he'll ever propose to me like Harry proposed to Sally. I love him with all my heart, but we're "just" friends, according to him. And I miss him very, very much! I haven't seen him in 6 months (he's in Miami, and I'm in Tennessee), but I talk to him online several times a day and on the phone a couple of times a month.

So, what are your top-three favorite movies and why?

What's Your Favorite Movie?

Hi There,

I'm a real sucker for "Terms of Endearment"! I cry most of the way through. Another I remember & enjoy soo much is "Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid." The one with Robert Redford & Paul Newman! I can still visualize Robert Redford saying "Bolivia"! They were sooo together

What's Your Favorite Movie?

I agree with you KatieNelson on "Butch Casidy and the Sundance Kid". I also loved them in "The Sting". I've always been a big Paul Newman fan. Him and Robert Redford together are a tough combination to beat.

What's Your Favorite Movie?

Hi Rupester,

Hopefully I'm not getting to far off the subject I actually was standing behind Paul Newman in a Hospitality Tent at a race. He was very reserved and looked very with a baseball cap on. I'm 5'10" and I know from that he is shorter than I. I also liked the Sting

What's Your Favorite Movie?

Hi, I'm not sure that I can chose just three. I love old Katherine Hepburn - Spencer Tracy movies, any thing with Red Skelton, Gene Kelly, Gene wilder, Robin Williams, Goldie Hawn - gosh I love movies - esp comedies and musicals. I guess that my new favorite is "Chicago" --- I loved it.

What's Your Favorite Movie?

I guess my all time favorite is Gone with the wind, the reason why is because My Mother and I would rent it on a rainy day and pop some popcorn and spend some time together. Another favorite as a child was the Wizard of Oz, Such a good clean movie. Last but not least anything with Kevin Costner, Robin Williams,Sean Connery, Harrison Ford, oh my so many more.

Jimmy Stewart for me

My all-time favorite has got to be Harvey with Jimmy Stewart. I just love his character in that film. 2nd - Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation; again, Jimmy Stewart. His character in this one, Mr. Hobbs, is so much like my husband it's uncanny. 3rd? Let's see....hmmmm....I guess, since the only films I can think of right now are Jimmy Stewart's, it would have to be Who Shot Liberty Valance?

Thanks for the fun thread Sashi!
