I am 31 and surgery set for 3/27. Support needed!

I am 31 and have endometriosis which caused infertility. I attempted IVF twice, both failed. Anyway, I am having TAH and have no idea what to expect. I might have bowel involvement. Having a colonoscopy done on the 11th to determine. None of family has had to have the procedure so I have no one to talk with. I need a little insigt and support. I am devastated since my husband and I were unable to have children. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi.

I am 30 and had my TVH on Thursday. I am in some pain but t is better than what I experienced every day of my life for 16 years.

I am so sorry that you have been unable to have children. Its very hard to be so young and lose that opportunity. Please allow yourself to mourn and don't let ANYONE tell you that you have nothing to greive about.

Feel free to e-mail me if you want to talk.

Hang in there!

Hello!!

I had my abdominal hyst on Dec.27,2002 for endo. I went through the same infertility unhappiness as you too. I am 35. I felt so horrible after all of the fertility drugs. My surgeon believes they irritated the endo. I had a lot of endo on my bowels but he did not do a resection. He just treated it with a laser and hoped that the hormone therapy I am taking knocks the residual out. I feel much better since the surgery and I feel like I can live life again. I was so sick and never knew when a BAD day would hit. I felt like I could not make plans with friends because I might have to back out last minute. I had to quit work because I called in sick so much and felt guilty because the others had to pick up my slack. I got to the point that children were out of the question because I could not even take care of myself, my home or my husband. Now I feel like I have a life again. My hubby even sent the surgeon a thank you note for bringing his happy sweet wife back to life. We hope to adopt or become foster parents. We have a lot of love to share and we know we tried all we could to have one of our own.

I honestly believe you will feel better after your surgery. You may still have some aches and pains and it will take time to get to a point where you are OK about the children you could not have together. The support group RESOLVE is wonderful!! I am still coping with that loss but I am so blessed that I can enjoy my husband again.

I think I have rambled on enough for this post. Please email me at zaniejanie@hotmail.com or send a private message with your questions. I would be more han happy to discuss anything with you.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!! You will be feeling much better soon!!!! I sure am!!

Hi!
I am 30 and my TAH, BSO is scheduled for 4-17. I to have struggled with infertility. It is devastating, but I can't wait to feel better. I have fibroids, ovarian cysts, adhesions, enlarged uterus, and one very bad ovary. (only have one left at this point). Now I'm at the point where I just can't wait to get it over with. Just keep thinking how much better we'll feel. Think positive and keep reading the posts on hystersisters. It has helped me ALOT. I just keep reading and reading. Anytime I feel down or have a question, I come here. Anytime I feel negative about the surgery, I come here. I wish you the best of luck and I will be praying for you.

Hi Bebecrump!

I am 32 (no children) and am 6 weeks post. I completely understand how you are feeling. A ruptured appendix at age 2 caused both of my fallopian tubes to shut down. When I was 25 I learned that I would not be able to conceive or sustain a pregnancy. I went thru a great deal of mourning. I was blessed because my husband (we were just married in Sept) is accepting of our situation. There is nothing that I can tell you that will make you feel better about not having children. I CAN tell you from experience that it does get easier. It took me a number of years, but I truly believe that there is a reason for everything. And maybe the "grand plan" will be for you and your hubby to adopt a child someone down the road.....
I know that right now my hubby is just very thankful to have his wife back!! The last few years of our lives had been 'lost' because of all the pain I was experiencing. We are just going to take some time to catch up on all we've been missing.

Good luck!! And if you need someone to talk to, I'll be glad to lend an ear! )

Take Care,
Katie

Hi there Bebecrump...

Isn't this a great site? I love it and spend probably too much time on it! There's something to be said about chatting with women who are right where you're at or have been there. As wonderful as our girlfriends may be, there is a certain connection when you chat with another woman who has felt the same loss and pain of infertility and the struggles of endo, terrible periods, etc. I'm 31 and am scheduled for TAH/BSO on 3-24. I too spent years in the midst of infertility. Endo is a lot more than just painful periods, it can change the plans you may have for a family. I have been blessed with two wonderful children, both adopted from India. Allow yourself as much time as you need to grieve the loss of birthing your own child, do it in YOUR OWN way and then know that there are many different options out there for creating a beautiful family. you'll find what's right for you when the time is right. You can email me anytime. tonyat@juno.com HUGS..Tonya27

Some Support

bebecrump,
Hey! Netter here. I am also 31 and am considering total hyster also due to endometriosis and recurring ovarian cysts. Basically a lot of pain. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. Big decision for me and sounds like the same for you. I have been doing research and talking to other women who have had hysters. This site is a great site to get help.
Hang in there!
