The date is closing in....

Hi....

I am new here and scheduled for surgery on 4/2. The date seemed so far away at first, now it is right around the cornor.

I am 29 and I am really having second thoughts about all this. I know rationally that this is what is best, I as my date get closer all I can hear is my emotions.

Any ladies out there who questioned thier decision right up until the date?? I am worried if given the slightest chance I will cancel again.....I need some support to stay strong!!!

Thank you for any support and Thank you for this site !!!!

Hi Steffimichelle,

Welcome to Hystersisters! This is a wonderful site - lots of good info, and tons of support.

I think how you feel is completely natural. It is very emotional to part with "female" parts we have, and the whole process of major surgery and having to recover is scary. I am 38 and suffered far too long with endo. I have had no doubts about my hyster - I knew it was the best thing for me, so I could have some quality of life.

It is more than okay to emote, and to express your concerns, and have your question answered. Come to this site often - all the wonderful ladies here have been so helpful to me! Be sure to ask your doctor all of the questions you have about your surgery and recovery. And, take good care of (that means "pamper")yourself!

Best of luck with your surgery!

s,
Sandra

Steffi,

As you read the message boards, you'll see repeatedly that the waiting is the hardest part. It's so true and I know you won't understand that till it's all said and done!!

There's an awful lot of comfort and encouragement to be found here.. We're all sisters and we all have concerns both pre-op and post-op.

I don't know what your medical situation is that led you to this decision, but you know what's best for you. Stay strong and think of all the better days to come!

Hi Steffi!
I know how your feeling, my date is the same as yours. So far I've been holding it together pretty well but it's getting harder everyday. Hang in there we're going to be just fine and then pain free in 03!

The date is closing in....

Hi Steffi!!

I am 32 and 6 weeks post. I was ready to cancel right up until the very end! (as a matter of fact, there had been a good chance I was going to be the one running thru the parking lot bare bummed with an IV the morning of the surgery! hee hee )

I'm sure that you have read from most of the postings that the waiting is the hardest part. It is absolutely true!! They took me for my surgery at exactly 7:30 am. I remember them putting something in my IV in the prep room and the next thing I remember (although I have been told that I was "awake" when I left the prep area) was opening my eyes in the recovery room at 10:45! God Bless Anesthesia!! I ran a temperature the night of my surgery, so they kept me in bed for 24 hours with no solid foods. The next day they had me up and walking the halls & I came home within 3 days of my surgery. Even now if I spend too much time on my feet (or try to lift something I shouldn't) I'll get a little swelling, but other than that, I feel great. NO MORE PAIN!

You will be so relieved when it is all over!

Take care of yourself! If you want someone to "vent" to, give me a holler! )

Katie
