Gee. I keep thinking something is wrong!

Hi

It has only been 3 1/2 weeks since my surgery for repair of a large incisional hernia (yes, the TAH/BSO incisioin). I have the same pain in my left side and ribs that I had before the surgery. I was pretty sure it was connected to he hernia but now I'm concerned it's something else. My surgeon told me when he removed my drain at around one week post that I should expect all kinds of pains and tugs and discomfort over the next couple of months and I keep trying to remember that. I know I should not be jumping to conclusions here. But I'm pretty uncomfortable. Shouldn't I be better by now or should I be happy I'm feeling as good as I am??

Hard to say......but it certainly can't hurt to call the doc's office and let them know....they could give you a better idea if it's just "healing" pains or something out of the ordinary!!

I know my GP told me, in my case, that since I had an incision on top of an incision this time that it could take a full year before everything felt tickety boo, but I would call!!

hang in there!! 's!!

Hi Joselle

I would check with Dr also- I bet it is just healing pains.. did you maybe overdue it at home?? or maybe sleep on it wrong? you might just have a "Knot" as my grandmother used to call muscles when they get tensed up!!

Hope you feel better and I would not panic at so early post-op..sending a your way!

Joselle,
I know that after each surgery I've had I've experienced all kinds of weird pains and sensations. Some did subside over time. It is so hard to tell if something is just normal healing pain or if something else is going on. I would give the a call and let the doctor decide.

Well you know the doctor can't decide anything on the phone. Checking in means either a) another run-in with Pit Bull Nurse or b) another outing to my GP. I think I will choose b). But not 'till next week. My dear can take me on very short notice. He can tell me when to worry. He can tell me when to do testing. He's a sweet

Thanks, ladies. This road is not very well paved if you ask me.
