First Week Back at Work

Hello everyone--

Well, I reluctantly went back to work this week--but only 4 hours a day this week; 6 hours next week, and then back to full time. I'm almost 7 weeks post-op and had really wanted 2 more weeks at home, but doctor said 6 was enough!

Anyway, work was okay--managed to function fine for 4 (okay, some days 5...hard to get out on time!), but when I got home I definitely still needed to rest about 2 or 3 o'clock every day. I would be feeling fine and then boom! It was like a wall hit me--completely exhausted! So I would lie down for an hour and then I was okay. I did make sure I was in bed every night by 10..

I actually enjoyed getting back into the world again, but I do miss my 6 weeks at home... It went very fast. So all you ladies out there complaining of boredom--relax and enjoy yourselves! You probably won't get another long break like this until you retire!

First Week Back at Work

Hi Cindy,

Congrats on getting back to work! You deserve down time and rest this weekend!

I go back to work (full time) on Monday, almost 8 weeks post op. I am anxious about going back as it is my last week before I start a new job - I don't know how well I will be received after being off 8 weeks for surgery then waltzing out the door! I am also anxious about starting the new job as I don't want to let anyone down...

All the best for your return to full time!
,
Sandra

First Week Back at Work

Congrats on going back to work. At seven weeks your body is still healing and it does take alot out of you, so make sure you rest when you need to. I hated going back to work at six weeks. I enjoyed my time at home and being pampered..lol..

First Week Back at Work

I went back to work this week too, 6 weeks post op. Went back on Tuesday and worked the rest of the week. Two of the days I was actually there over 8 hours (got caught up in what I was working on), left 1/2 hour early today. Was ready for bed by 10 each night, except last night was 11 (I am an ER fan). Was hard to get back into the routine of being dressed and ready to go by 6:30 am. All in all, everything went well and work and I am lucky to work with the wonderful people that I do-every time I saw one of them they were asking if I was feeling OK or if I needed help doing something. Oh the joys of being one of only three women that work at my location! Have a feeling that I'll be sleeping in in the morning! Good luck to anyone else returning to work-try to take it easy and listen to your body. And try to look at it the way I do-I'm 36 so that means in 19 years I'M OUTTA THERE!!!!!
