Feeling Blue

Hello fellow princesses! I just got home from my 6 week post-op appointment. (TVH/BSO on 2/4/03). He said I was healing ok, but restricted work and sex and everything for another 2 weeks to heal further. I felt great until about 4 weeks post-op then the back pains and a burning in my sides knocked me back.

I think my family is losing patience with me - but fortunately my DH went to the appointment and heard for himself. I was so hoping to have all this behind me.

Anyway, sorry to whine, I just needed a shoulder.

Thanks to you all for always being here.

Blue too

Hi Laura, I could have written a lot of your post!
I had a tah/bso on Feb 4th, on Feb 5th I was rushed back into the operating room with massive internal bleeding, yes I got to have major surgery twice in 18 hrs.and a blood transfusion (3 units) Anyhow, I was sent home on the 8th only to be rushed back to the hospital with pain so bad I was sure I was going to die and a temp of 103. Turns out I was then full of infection and a lg hematoma. The worst of the infections being an Ecoli infection in my bladder! After 5 more days in the hospital, a second blood transfusion of 2 units I was released again. Home for 2 days and my incision opened up a bit and I had a lg amount of drainage from ..that just stopped draining less then a week ago, however a spot on the other side is now infected and started to drain Thursday.
I have been required to see a Dr at least once a week as the infection of the bladder has not improved and I am now on my 5 med for treatment, my Dr. is suggesting that if I don't have success with this med (which I'm not) then it appears surgery # 3 is looming! I am still on total restrictions, till at least Apr. My Dr. says I need to remember that I had major surgery twice and that I should try to remember how lucky I am to still be "here"
Things got pretty dicey in the second surgery!
So while I am at my 6 wk today and tomorrow, I'm feeling quite down today. I had full intentions of bouncing back in a couple weeks, not a couple mths. My kids and DH have been great, but it is very frustrating to be a such a stand still. I never thought I would be laid up this long, heck I never thought I would suffer from hot flashes at 35 either...lol.
I guess the long winded point I am trying to make is I know how you feel. I have suffered from Endo/Adeno and cysts for 13 yrs having had surgery 14 times in 13 yrs, taken pain meds like candy. The main thing I always try to remember is that I am lucky, and that no matter how bad things are for me, there are people in this world who are far worse off then I.
But every once in a while...I do feel sorry for myself. I hated finding out in the last 6 wks that I was human after all!

Hang in there it will get better. I had TAH and BSO on 2/24 and at 3 weeks one day I feel great better than expected but I know that if I over do it I can have setbacks. You do feel that as great as your family can be that after three weeks you they feel that you are better because you look better.

Lisa and fellow princesses,
Thank you all for your support. Lisa, I'm so sorry you are having such a rough time, and I feel for you. I'll be thinking of you and hoping all works out quickly for you!

I guess I don't have much room to complain. Guess I'm just suffering from cabin fever!

We are here for you. And you're not whining. It takes so much time to heal from major surgery I'm told. I'm only 13 days after surgery and want this healing to get on with it. I guess we never realized what this would be like until we had to go through it. Good luck to you. All of the Hyste Sisters are wishing you a healthy, speedy recovery.
