Hot Flashes/Cold Flashes?

Hi Everyone,
I had a TVH keeping my ovaries Jan.22nd. Even though I kept my ovaries they are not working, so I am in full menopause. I am having a hormone test taken tomorrow to determine what I need.
My question is, does anyone also seem to be cold as well as hot all the time. I seem to get a hot flash, face turns red, then 10 minutes later I am freezing cold with goose bumps everywhere? I am either nearly naked, then 10 minutes later have 4 layers of clothes on. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,
Michele

Hot Flashes/Cold Flashes?

Shell,
I had that alot after my surgery. I would get so cold my teeth would literally start chattering. These spells usually followed an extremely sweaty episode. I did find that over time, and finding my balance these episodes have greatly subsided.

Good luck with your hormone test.

Hot Flashes/Cold Flashes?

I'm having the same hot/cold flashes. I'm driving my husband nuts. Neither one of us is getting any sleep at night. I throw the covers off, open the window..... a few minutes later I'm closing the window, hunkering down under the covers and cuddling up to him trying to get warm. Menopause, whose idea was this anyway?

Hot Flashes/Cold Flashes?

Last night I told my dh I could heat a 3rd world country!
He has his own blankie now,as I don't know what I will need from one second to another!
I keep a heating pad at the bottom of my bed for my feet whichstay frozen most of the time. but then last night kicked it out .
last week i sent him out for boiling chicken and stars soup (microwaved for 3 min) and a glass of ice with sprite
for 3 days i was ill from the tempuratture changes in my body-I thought about calling the heating and cooling place so they could fix my furnace!
I have been taking premarin 1.25 and then my sister gave me some cream in a jar that may be helping I just don't know yet.
Your not alone sister! Hang in there!

Hot Flashes/Cold Flashes?

I've been running hot and cold, usually a reaction to a couple of degrees' difference in temperature. At 76, my body reacts like it's 90: perspiring in private areas. I too throw off my clothes for instant relief, only to feel freezing a couple of minutes later. At any temp below 72, I'm cold. As soon as I put on another blanket, I get hot. When I throw the blanket off, I'm cold again. I guess this all has something to do with a lack of estrogen causing the hypothalamus to over-regulate our body temperature. Sends out a stimulant to circulation for one temp, then stops suddenly when we adjust? This bears some http://www.google.com research. :burning:
