9 months post-op and its a nightmare for me help someone....
Hi ladies, I am 41yrs old and had a hyster 9 months ago. I had all my my inners removed but one ovary.Fibroid cyst and hyper dysplasia uterus were the reasons I had it done. I was absolutey terrified of having it done. I changed my mind twice then said ok I will do it.My worst fears came true.I heard all kinds of horror stories about the surgery.I feared of myself not bouncing back ya know. Before the surgery however 5yrs ago I was in a car accident.I was hit by a tractor trailer and 18 ton I beams feel of the truck and crushed the car. I survived. I had back problems which has led to severe nerve damage. # years later I had neck surgery that failed .MY body is always in pain.2 weeks after my neck surgery I was in another accident a man plowed in the front of my car.He never saw me.More pain .More nerve damage. Now the hyster.I was not a candidate for this surgery but the gyn said be safe than sorry.Since the hyster I lostall of my whole being ladies. I was a successful business owner of my own hair salon.I lost all my sexuality. all my interest. I have cold waves not hot flashes.nightsweats sometimes..Bladder pain alwaysfeeling like I have to go which I do.My urologist says its nothing.I have pain in my ovary all the time and cramps 24-7. my breasts hurt always non stop. I lost 40 pds.I was always thin to begin with I look anorexic.MY haif fallsout.I feel depressed most of the time.Like I am just a pair of eyes.Sometimes with no emotion.I have anxiety attacks ,panic attack, paranod feelings sometimes almost manic.I have vestibulitis down in the prvate parts that mimic a constant yeast infection. This is nerve damage.NO cure so I hear.My drs say I dont need hormones. My thyroid is in remmission from overactive thyroid disease. My levels are Normal. My last visit to the dr was he now thinks I have lupus. I have allergies from food. I cant eat anything without itching all over. I have become chemically senstives to all medications.Hrts, antidepressents ,all have side affects and I get all the side effects. The only ting I take is loreazapam for sleep. Thats it.I know this is alot to write but I havent talked to anyone about this besides my mom because she is the only one who will listen to me.sexually it hurts to have sex up inside of me. An orgasm makes me feel worse emotionally.I dont feel sensual at all anymore. I have prematurely aged 10 years.I get confused alot and cant remember things. I suffer from tremors all the time .I feel so inadequate as a person. I never had any of these problems in my life. I could deal with the accidents in all. I am on disability. But this hyster destroyed my life .I have become like a recluse.I lost all my friends.I love life so much and love people. I had a great life prior to this surgery in spite of my accidents. I have sought counceling but I have medial assistance for insurance.Thats welfare insurance. So the drs I see arent your higher patience people.tHEY SAY THEY DONT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME. i AM NOT CRAZY. How can you go from being a perfectly normal person one minute before a surgery and 9 mths later end up like you have had a lobotomy? I have tried herbs and cant take those either. I do smoke. And have one cup of coffee a day. I never have an appetite but when I do I cant stop eating. Then I go back to no appetite. I cant believe this has happened to me . Does this ever go away.Wil I ever be me again? I am sorry I took up so much time and space but Is anyone out there that has any advice ? thanks a bunch?? I just want my life back...The fun me that loves life .....Thanks a bunch ladies I am so happy I found you..Please someone resopnd..BY the way the counseler I see and my drs feel this is not hormone related...I truley know my body and something is wrong .....

Angeleyes,
I am so sorry for all of you pain and grief. I too have felt alot different since my TAH/BSO almost 2 years ago. I am just now starting to feel more like myself. I was on hormones and zoloft for panic attacks, which I never had before my surgery. I weaned myself off of the zoloft, and I quit taking my hormones, because of the feeling that my endo was coming back.
I can tell you that what has helped me mostly is alot of prayer. I don't know if you are a religious person or not, but I promise you that if you will sincerely pray about your situation, it will get better.
On a more medical side, I use progesterone cream that has helped with alot of menopausal symptoms, and it has helped with my sex drive and sore breasts.
I hope that things do start improving for you very soon and that you can start enjoying life again. I know that just posting here on this forum will help you alot. The women here are wonderful and will give you lots of support. If you have any friends to talk to, just spill your heart out to them and get it off your chest. They may not have any of the answers for you, but just talking about problems seems to help sometimes. Please keep us posted on how you are doing, and I will continue to pray for you daily.
Angie

Hi
I'm sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. You've experienced a lot of stress and maybe it was the hysterectomy that was the last straw, I don't know. I do know that some of the kinds of symptoms you are having can be caused by stress. The food and chemical sensitivities, for example, are a sign your body has had more stress than it can cope with.
You didn't say why you had a hysterectomy although you mention you were not a candidate for the surgery. I'm sure there was a reason for your surgery but I'm confused as to what you mean by this.
It's hard to get one doctor who can oversee your care in all of these areas, but this is really what you need. I know what it's like to have so many problems and consult many doctors with no answer that makes sense. Hopefully you can find doctors who will at least work together to help stabilize your health. Is it possible for you to find a social worker worker who can help?
I'm sure there is a way out of this, you just need to be persistent and find the right person to help you.
Best of luck.
Joselle

Hi Angeleyes and welcome to Hystersisters. I'm so glad you found us. There are unlimited s here for you from sisters who understand. I hope you will take some time to explore the site as well... especially the Road Less Traveled and Hormone Jungle forums.
The ladies on the Road are all there because they have had long term complications after their hysterectomies and can help you feel that you are not alone, not the only one this has happened to. And in the Jungle, we talk about using hormone replacement to help with symptoms we are having.
I know you mentioned that your DR said your problems are not hormonal, but they do sound like they could be. Has anyone actually tested your hormone levels to see if your ovary is working, and providing enough for your needs? A lot of the symptoms you mentioned have been attributed to low estrogen levels (although that doesn't mean that's the only possible explanation) and also low testosterone (the libido symptoms). And, as (((Angie))) said, progesterone cream does help some ladies with painful breasts.
As (((Joselle))) mentioned, I'm a little confused about your having not been a candidate for the surgery. What did you mean by that?
I hope it is a comfort to you to know that we are here, we are listening and we do care.

-Linda

Sending you a and letting you know you are thought of today. You have had some major stuff happen to you, it's no wonder your system is reacting! Like (((Linda))) mentioned, check out the Hormone Jungle and The Road less Traveled forums. The ladies there can help you sort through some issues too.
Please read the article in the Jungle on "vaginal atrophy": http://www.hormonejungle.com/dryness.php . I was having bladder problems too; always the pressure like I had to go. I now use some Vagifem tabs that are inserted into the vagina twice a week. It helps to hydrate and plump up the tissue in that area and around the urethra. My bladder woes are gone! I think it could also help ease the strange feeling you are having up inside. This is a symptom estrogen deficiency. This can get a little confusing because I have two working ovaries. The deficiency is in the tissue and that is why I use the suppositories and not the oral estrogen. It is worth talking to your Dr. about. A balance is so necessary to our over all health. Do some research here, print out what you need and take the information to your dr./drs. If you need help, just ask, we'll all do our best to guide you in where to look.
My are with you. Karlene

Thank you all for your replies
Dear Sisters, Thank you so much for replying to my post. It feels great to have support and prayers. I pray everyday for all of this mess to end. I AM A BIG BELIEVER in the Lord. The reason for my surgery was I had a fibroid tumor on my left ovary and pain and heavy bleeding. After my surgery my Gyn said I had a condtion called hperdysplasia first stage of cancer in the uterus. I didnt feel as bad to even have the surgery. But she said some where down the line I would end up with a hyster. So I went ahead with it against my better judgement. Meaning, that I wasnt a canadate for surgery was...I was in 2 car accidents and had a neck surgery that failed. My body in the last 8yrs has had alot of trauma.I dont have the durability to with stand anymore shock or trauma to my body.Mentally or physically or emotionally. The accidents and failed surgey to my neck caused severe nerve damage all spinal cord. So the hysterectomoy compounded my already frail body. It was as you have stated,it was the last straw to break the camels back so to speak.Since the hyster.I have developed allergies..all kinds of strange things that I never experienced before in my life. One last thing..even my features have changed.I was considered always very attractive.Looking more like 30 than 41. I NOW LOOK SO OLD.My youthfulness is gone...If I CAN HELP ANYONE...please let me know.Maybe I WILL FEEL BETTER..I love helping people.Giving brings me so much joy..Thank you all again.GOD BLESS YOU

9 months post-op and its a nightmare for me help someone....
Hi, I am 3 years post op, had a TVH I have lost alot of weight,no apetite,I look 70 instead of 43, no energy, no nothing. Can't work since surgery, lost muscle mass bad. I have no boobs or butt, I look like a skelton. I have also got allergic to perfumes, candles, foods, you name it. I too am like you I have tried every hormone mix out there and all give me terrible side effects so tried so many antidepressants and they make me feel either like I want to slep or almost panicky. I have all kinds of test run. I do know I am hypoiglocemic, and with not have much of an apetite it doesn't help it. My thyroid the doctor said was a tad low but didn't seem to concerned, said to just eat more, well DUH. Before my surgery I was a people person, enjoyed anything and everything in life. Now I have to push myself, I have started a small garden but want the old me back or somewhere close. And then when I do go out people so you have lost so much weight, that sure doesn't help with self esteem so I stay in more where I was always outside, having friends and neighbors over for cookouts and such but now I am just here, I feel like I am one step to dying. So if you ever find out what is going on with you please let me know and I will do the same. Oh yea I just found out I do have Fibro but this has been going on way before that. Email me if you would like to talk sometime.

Just a quick reply. Has your doctor checked your thyroid levels? A lot of your symptoms sound like a thyroid problem. I had so many of the same ones and turned out to have graves disease( a form of hyperthyroidism). Even if he/she says the levels are borderline, I'd ask for an endocrinologists opinion. A full thyroid levels test may be called for. Some women have a see saw swing with the thyroid levels until they finally go either hyper or hypo.
