4 1/2 wks post op and frustrated!

Hi!
I am 4 1/2 weeks post op and feel like I did the first week. I had felt so good up until the one month mark. Now, the gas is back, I'm constipated, I'm sore and frustrated. I am also having an intermittant bladder problem. I've had my urine tested and cultured and it all came back fine, but I have alot of irritation, I guess is the best word to describe it, when I pee. I also sometimes have leakage after I wipe and stand up.

My DH says I'm just overdoing it and paying the price. Maybe he's right. I am just so frustrated right now. I guess I just thought since I had felt so good all along that I was home free. Guess I was wrong.

Anyway, just wanted to vent and see if anyone else has experienced this at 4 1/2 weeks......

4 1/2 wks post op and frustrated!

Christi,

Many of us remember actually feeling worse as soon as we started to think we would be normal! Remember that the recovery also means you've lost some of your endurance and you've got to work slowly to get your strength back.

On the leaking - you might ask your doc about using vaginal estrogen cream. Many of us have found that after a BSO we get awful dry and the tissues get thin. This can cause urinary symptoms as well as vaginal ones.

4 weeks post-op tomorrow

Kristi,

Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I, too have noticed the leaking after you think you are finished peeing and stand up. My Dr. said that it was because of the trama the internal organs went through during surgery and after and to be patient - it will go away. He did tell me to do the kegel exercises a couple of times a day. I have not had the other badder issues. Though still gassy and constipated off and on.

My Dr. released me (at my 1 week post-op apt) at 4 weeks to return to all normal activities except for martial arts. I walked a mile on Saturday and am very sore today. I was feeling great until I walked. What I've read here on this site is that you HAVE to take it SLOW and allow your body time to heal!

Hope this helps.

4 1/2 wks post op and frustrated!

Evie, I'm almost 2 weeks post op. And yes, my belly is much flatter in the morning. I take ibuprofen soon as I awaken. By end of day it's poofy again. Seems to be the norm.

I refused to let my belly get the best of me. I look at it, scrowl my face, stick my tongue out at it, and get on with the day.

I know it'll get better. Two women I work for who had their surgeries in November have back to normal tummies. But it took two to three months.

Hey, I'm in Florida and I just ordered a new bikini. I discovered that my bikini underwear pass right above the poochy ridge, so it doesn't show. And I don't care what the heck it looks like - it won't keep me from the beach. Well, in about 6 or 7 weeks, that is.

Hugs,
Littlebear
