It's Real

Hello Hystersisters,
So this surgery is really going to happen on Tuesday. I am so grateful for this site. I feel as prepared as one can possibly be. I have a goodie basket ready for the nurses, I've read all the posts on what to pack to take to the hospital, and I have cleaned like a madwoman. At least I know some of the crazy thoughts I'm having are normal. Tomorrow morning I'm going in to school for a few hours, then shopping for a Fleets enema, Massengil douche, an eyemask, and groceries. Tomorrow night I will be a basket case; I'll be so glad when this is over. Surgery is 9:30 a.m., so I'll leave home around 7:00 for the hospital. I'm sure I won't sleep, but I figure I'll have plenty of time to catch up when I arrive back home.
You all are great; so kind and supportive. It is encouraging to know that so many women have this surgery and do fine.

Don't worry Dkremm...you aren't the only "basket case" here!! As I am preparing for my trip to the Castle (on Tuesday as well) I am finding myself very much in an odd space. My best friend was simply talking about coming over and cleaning my room and helping with my laundry and I burst out crying! I am going in for one last Q&A session with my GYN tomorrow and just the thought of asking him the questions I mist up. But then again I can't keep myself from smiling when I hear other women talk about their periods knowing that mine is about to be a thing of the past! I am sure the girls at work are sick of hearing how excited I am about my trip to the castle. But I can't help it, it is ALL I think about. I have been keeping myself busy though. I think tomorrow is going to be the roughest day of all. Work is going to DRAG by. The my DRS appt, and then I am going to go to a co-workers house to have my hair put in corn-rows (hence my long hair dilema) So hopefully keeping busy will keep my mind off the time. Thank goodness I am not alone in this trip, I can only imaging what kind of basket case I would be if I didn't have all my sisters here to talk to!!! Thanks so much for all the support you all have given for my silly questions and for all the great posts that has answered a lot of my questions. You all are great!
Much Love

big day on April 2 too!

Dear sisters:

I too am having my surgery on tue. I think I am as ready as I am ever going to be. I have to do all my preop stuff tommorow and then go in to surgery the next morning. I washed and waxed my jeep, did the yard work, cleaned the house, got my hair done and will pack my bag tommorow. I get an additional little bonus tommow too, I had my mammogram done on the 19 of March and was told they saw something suspicious. Have to squeeze in a ultrasound tommorow at 6pm too!!! Just wanted to say to all of you girls getting your surgeries to be strong and keep the the faith. I know I will be ok and so will you! My prayers and good thoughts are with you all.

Love you all and God bless!

Beat me by 2 hours

Hey!
My surgery is at 11:20 the 1st. You beat me!!

Hey, I'm so ready for this, I'm psyched! I'm on my way to a better, healthier me.

And hey--gotta tell ya ladies, my hubby is sooooo great, he bought the douche and the enema for me and picked up new slippers because I felt soooo lousy I couldn't go out this weekend.

Now if that ain't a loyal loving hubby, I don't know what is. Tampons and pads are bad enough, but he graduated to douches and enemas just for me!!

aaaaaaaawwwww.....

Good luck everyone!!! I'll see ya on the other side, post-op!!

Douche and enema? I have not heard about purchasing either of these. Can you tell me why?? I'm also curious about what you put in your nurses goodie basket? TIA

It's Real

I think the doctor wants everything empty and clean! I'm just really grateful I don't have to drink anything gross. I know it's silly, but that was one of my biggest fears! The bad thing was both products came in two's, and I don't plan on having to use either one a second time. Fleets enema, anyone?
I got a big basket and and got all kinds of Easter candy, some little individual cans of Pringle's chips, and small tubes of hand lotion (I got them in the travel toiletries for 50 cents apiece). I'm planning on being a really good, cooperative patient, but sometimes things don't go as planned. Just in case I freak, maybe the nurses will forgive me if there is chocolate for them!

Good luck to you and all the others on their surgery tomorrow.

I am postop 7 days right now. Things went even better than I had hoped.

I even surprised myself by being able to sleep pretty good the night before.

If you get this message in time, and are able to do it you may want to try to get a massage today. It helps you relax so much. I just went to the mall the few days before surgery and spent $20 for 20 minutes on one of those hydromassage beds. It was fabulous! I also went for a nice 30-40 minute walk each of those days before the massage. Everything that helps reduce stress is good to do before surgery.

See you on the other side wearing your new crown.
