You're not alone!
I feel exactly the same way. I had a TVH, kept ovaries in December, 2002. I am not at all like any of the other women posting here regarding desire and I'm starting to feel a little abnormal about it. I plan to talk to the doc about it at my next visit this month.
The sex is great! I just wish I desired it more (and so does DH).

FITBIT Maybe another kind of HRT would help.Something with testosterone in it. Do a search on sex or testosterone or libido. Then talk to your doc, don't give up till you are feeling better. Jasper

Sex? What's that??
I will be 6 wks post op and Friday and have no desire for it either. DH is already talking about it and I'm like "you've got to be kidding me?"
I feel this way and I kept an ovary that I know is working, so I don't know what my problem is!!

wht me!
I wish I had a different tell to tell but I don't. LATVH 11-12 2002. Kept both ovaries. I thought it would any day any time but it's not that way at all. DH is being supportive but we both get fustrated at the fact we thought it would be different. DR. says it's nothing to worry about right now. wait for my year appointment and see how things go. Wish I could help but I think we all go through alot of changes after this surgery. Good Luck to everyone and keep us all posted on what you find out to try to help the rest of us.
Thanks, Simone

I know how you ladies feel. I too felt the exact same way. I had zero desire. But you have to remember six weeks is still very early in your recovery and your body has gone through some major trauma. Even though your ovary is working it's still lost some of it's nourishment when you lost your uterus. If you go see your Dr. have him do a complete hormone panel, including free testosterone. I had one done at about 9 months post op. Found that my GP said all of my hormones were "normal" However, saw my chiro who does seminars on menopause and hormones etc. Anyways, going over my test results my estrogen was normal. HIGH normal. My progesterone was normal, but low normal and my testosterone was normal, but low normal. So I first started on natural progesterone cream for a couple of months and it did give me some of my energy and well being back And then I started on a compounded testosterone gel. After about a week, I started to feel a bit more like my old self but it took a month and I started to feel that desire again. I would think about my DH and feel those feelings. It took me a bit to get the testosterone just right to where it helped me. Ask your Dr. to do hormone panel on you, testing your free testosterone too. And see what it comes back. It might just be that you are only six weeks post op and these things do take time.

sex or lack of it!!!!
I was just about to post on this subject too, at least now I know I am not alone. I am 9 weeks post, had a gall bladder surgery a week ago, so I know once again it's early in the game. But it's so frustrating. It's just not there, and that's not normal for me! I was thinking of calling my gyn when I can drive easier and ask for a check on my estrogen levels, but would that be enough to kick start everything? Or do I need to be patient... I am probably crazy to even be thinking of this so soon after gall bladder surgery but we had to wait all that time after the hyst and I am soooo ready to be back to normal! What is normal anyway?! At least DH is so tired from all that's happened he is not pushing...
We do have a gift certificate for Outback and we have a "date" Friday night. Maybe that will help and will be in the air? Will post success story if it happens...

sex or lack of it!!!!
I was absoultly wound up following surgery and for the frist week after. Now I dont seem to care at all. not that it makes any difference any way i,m only at 3 weeks now. But i have to wonder how much of it is due to the fact that I was in such pain before and I,m still worried I'll hurt now. Sex in my house was taboo for the last two yrs and more off than on in the last 5. I was lucky to be able to even once every 6 months no matter how bad I really wanted it. Since I've been treated fro depression, mostly for this. I think I'll see the counselor for it. We talked before the surgery and she said i may get like this. Theres alot of physologl tramua with this much pain. Good Luck grils hope this helps everyone.

I appreciate the advice about getting the hormone panel done. If this continues I will ask for that. I just realized one thing...as it was said, our bodies have been through just so much pain, trauma, and for me, the emotional ups and downs with no longer having a job that I loved (had to choose btwn that and family - due to circumstances it was a no-brainer)...DH being tired and not feeling well, so he is less inclined to be responsive...and a week is awfully early...but I am just not used to feeling...nothing...and finding him asleep right away...guess maybe just needing some TLC with no expectations for a little while? And he probably needs some TLC too, a backrub, some appreciation, as he has shouldered a large burden (his mom had a stroke as well last week) with two jobs, 4 kids, me sick... I know this too shall pass - hopefully if needed with a little help from a hormone panel - wonderful advice, that points me in a direction I may use if needed...we need to know which questions to ask...thank you so...now I need a nap...

embarrassing question
Where do you put the testosterone gel? I have zero desire, was quite amorous for the first 3-4 weeks, and have had the big O, but just not zigged about "the act" We do engage, However
it's more out of love for him, and not excitement.
