bladder problems w/ hyst

I am currently considering having a hyst done. I have questioned two known hyst vets and one general surgeon and my own obgyn. One of the hyst vets said that she and two other women she knew had bladder problems after the hyst. She said that unexpectedly when laughing, coughing, etc. she would have an accident. She also said the other ladies went back to have more surgery on the bladder. She said she has to wear a pad daily, to be safe of accidents.
The other hyst vet and general surgeon did not know of these problems being associated with having a hyst.
Has anyone had any problems after a hyst of any kind. If so, could you please elaborate.
Very concerned and confused,

W.E.

bladder problems w/ hyst

Hi mewe96,

I'm 16 months post op from a TAH/BSO and have not had any bladder problems. That said, there are ladies posting here at Hystersisters who have had bladder problems post hyst. I don't know how common this is.

Are you have bladder difficulties now? Is that why you are concerned about potential problems post hyst? Please ask your gyn how often his/her patients have bladder problems post hyst. That might help ease your mind.

Sending hugs your way.

Beth

bladder problems w/ hyst

I am sorry to hear that you are confused. Everyone is scared of surgery so you are not alone there. I am two and a half weeks post op and do not have any bladder problems. I had problems before my op with my bladder being blocked by fibroids. Now it feels great to be able to go to the toilet "normally". It used to be such an effort!!! I am feeling great! Remember that problems are not the norm - try to stay possitive.
