generic version of Dot?

Does anyone know what the generic version of Vivelle Dot is? They would have to give you one that is replaced twice a week wouldn't they? I am using the Dot from samples the Dr. gave me, but I don't know if my insurance will make me pay big time for it. I am on United Health Care POS. I've been reading some of these posts and some of these ladies seem to have some complaints about the generics.

generic version of Dot?

Hi! I don't know of any generic patch that is changed twice a week... my guess is that they'd try to substitute a once weekly patch and tell you it's the same delivery per day (which it is, if it works properly... trouble is, most of them don't).

If you want to stick with the Dot, I'd ask your DR to write the prescription "dispense as written" or "no substitutions".

If you are open to considering other patches, some plans allow you to get Esclim a lot cheaper than the Dot, and Esclim is a pretty good one. A number of ladies here have had success with it.

Good luck!

patch

Hi:

I'm on V-Dot and my insurance WILL PAY FOR IT...With my co-pay, I pay 30.00 a month...However they told me at the Phys. that the prescription is only 47.00 without insurance...

Hope that will help you

insurance

hi i am also with UNITED HEALTH CARE /w percription card. I have had 3 different HRT's filled so far and they have only charged me $15 dollars for a months supply... started with climara patch, then to vivelle dot , tried a sample of cenestin, and estradoil and then back to the dot. Have decided to just put up with the dry ichy skin left by the patch. but the insurance worked just fine with all of them.. they were not generic either.. hope your plan works as good as mine . margo100

Listen to this!

We just got insurance through my DH's work and they will pay for my patch too....but only $5.00 of it. My co-pay is $30.00 for preferred prescriptions (name brand, non-generic).

Get this tho...for the time before up until now I have had to pay out of pocket for my HRT (Vivelle Dot) and it was $35.00 so by using my new insurance, I am not really saving anything anyway.

But I am glad you brought this question up about if there were a generic equivalent to the Dot. I was wondering the same thing.

Going to ask when I go in soon for my annual to get my new script written.

I really like the Vivelle Dot and don't want to change to something different.

generic version of Dot?

In my local chain pharmacy, Esclim is only a dollar or two less per month than Vivelle. And if I order by mail, I can get three months' supply for the price of one ($20).

I've not heard nearly the complaints about Esclim that I've heard about Climara generics. It wasn't a chance I wanted to take, though, given my history of skin allergies (I'm still astonished that I don't break out to the Vivelle). Your doctor has to be very specific to write the order as "Do Not Replace" AND, at least at my pharmacy, initial next to the box. (Guess too many patients were just checking that box off themselves ).

Anyway, since the price difference isn't all that big, the insurers seem to be paying for Vivelle in my community, according to my pharmacist. Good luck, and I hope it works for you!
