Wendy - did you call your doctor and let him know how much you're hurting? Maybe you need to make sure something else isn't going on? Can they move your surgery up at all? Or at least call in a different pain med?

Please consider calling your doctor tomorrow morning. You shouldn't be in that much pain. I had adenomyosis and it got increasingly worse all the way up til my surgery but at least I could take the edge off it with drugs!

I am so sorry for your pain. Would a heating pad help soothe you at all? How about a nice massage?

A couple days before my surgery date, I went for massages in one of those hydromassage beds that you lay in and let water jets take away all tension and pain. Worked like a charm for me.

Good luck to you.

Gosh Wendy - I'm so sorry you're in so much pain!! Your surgery date is coming up quick, although I doubt it feels quick enough at this point, huh?

Ahhhh - chocolate, the miracle drug! I do have back pain, but nothing like what you are having. Soak in a hot bathtub - that always helps me; well, even when it doesn't, at least I'm clean!

Wendy -- yowtch! Few things can hurt like an annoyed ovarian cyst. I'd get the functional ones during ovulation (Mittelschmerz), which hurt even before I had any obvious endo, and by the time my endometriosis got really bad, it took something heavy-duty like Vicodin to calm it down.

Don't be afraid to take pain meds under your doctor's supervision. Vicodin isn't something you want to be on for a long time, but if your doctor called in the prescription for you, then by his medical judgment it was appropriate. If you're in pain severe enough to make you cry, you're not being a wimp for taking pain meds!

BTW, I had some luck with hot baths too; at the very least, they're relaxing and can reduce the stress.

Best wishes,
Juliepede

Wendy,

I also had lower back pain on my left side before my TAH. I had a bladder infection. Have you been checked for that? I also had a large cyst but the back pain was due to the infection. Good luck
