pre-op decisions

Iam afraid of being put to sleep so I'm opting for a spinal just wondering if anyone else went this way and exactly how long the surgery usually last. thanks for any help you maybe in helping make this decision

Hi Delta,

There are many women who have been able to have spinal anesthesia and were very pleased with it. This is a decision that you will need to make with your Dr. and anesthesiologist however.

Your Dr. will also be the one who should be able to tell you about how long your surgery should take. It depends on why you are having your hyst and what it is involved once they begin. My Dr. said that my surgery would last around 5 hours and he was right on the mark. I am on the long side though; I've read a lot of posts from women whose surgery lasted from as little as 45 minutes to an hour or two.
