Hormone Replacement

I have one of those doctors that looks at you like you are stupid for asking questions. I turned 50 this week. I skipped 3 months after the D & C and skipped one months in February. I have not had my period for that should have started at the end of March yet. I asked the doctor about HRT and he said that I would not be on hormones. I thought everyone took them or am I at the age where I don't need them.

Hormone Replacement

Hi

There is more controversy now than there has been in the past about whether or not to take HRT. However, it is a decision that should be yours, IMHO, and it should be based on general as well as specific information. When I've had doctors who are so curt regarding discussion I have taken in a list of printed questions with a copy for myself and have been fairly successful in getting a discussion going. And as much as I hate to say it, it's still most effective if I have my husband with me. Some things are very slow in changing.

I think you need to know a lot more about why your doctor is saying you will not be on hormones. (As if it is the decision of the anyway!!)

find a female doctor. men do not have the same parts that we do. they think if they don't have to take it neither do women. try to get a natural hormone. i'm taking cenestin. lots of others are made from pregnant mare urine. yuk. (premerin is one)

Sorry to hear you don't have a communicative doctor.

I switched from one that was kind of like that to one that went out of his way to make me comfortable with my decisions.

I'm 49 and am on HRT and doing well so far (11 days postop)

Your doctor may have valid reasons for not putting you on hormones. If women are high risk for breast cancer, I think they won't put them on hormones, for example. I'm sure there are other reasons. You definately need to know why, so please do make a point to ask. If you still don't get an answer then you may want to consider seeing another doctor for an opinion.

The best of luck to you.
