Pre- Op Pampering
Hi Ladies!
So I have some suggestions to make the "waiting" a little
easier. ( I hope)
If you have the time, take warm bath's at night
Light some candles and just relax!
Make your list's of things to do before you go to the "castle"
Buy your self some new pj's for your hospital stay.( i hate
wearing the hospital gowns )
Treat your self to a manicure or pedicure or both before your
big day.
Be packed and ready to go early.
Most of you probably already know all of this, but just thought
I would add my two cents.
I went in for a pedicure today and it felt great! I work at a beautiful tanning salon equipped with 5 Nail techs that do waxing, pedicures, manicures, and facials! So it is pretty easy for me to get all of this done. (family business) But I was thinking of
all of you and thought this would be a nice treat before going to the Castle.
Take Care!!! And pamper yourselves!!!!! )

Pampering
Hi Michelle!
Thanks for the great ideas! Waiting has been hard.
We must be thinking along the same lines. I've scheduled a hair appt. for a few days before I go to the castle complete with manicure/pedicure. Haven't had the full salon treatment in years and can't wait!!!
I also like the "make a list" idea. I have had lots of ideas of last minute errands popping in my mind, but writing them down would be helpful.
Perhaps I do this in the bath!

Pre- Op Pampering
Good idea to spend some time pampering yourself before surgery, but . . . . . BEFORE you get a manicure or pedicure check to make sure you aren't wasting your time or money. Quite a few hospitals don't allow nail polish in the OR, it would be a shame to be one of those who is handed a bottle of remover before they will take you to surgery.
Every hospital has different procedures. My pre-op instructions were written out and crystal clear: "Do not wear make-up, nail polish or jewelry the day of surgery. You may wear contacts lenses. Bring your case so that you can remove them before surgery. You will also be asked to remove dentures, partial plates, or other prosthesis before surgery." They did tell me I could keep my wedding ring on; they would tape it during surgery. Every room in my hospital has a large wall clock right under the TV so I didn't have to worry about a watch.
Just my own personal opinion: I preferred to be as "natural" as possible, because even with all the new high tech equipment I believe if there is a chance they can spot a potential problem by being able to observe my nail beds or the color of my face, etc and not waiting for the machine to tell them something may be wrong then I wanted to give them that possible early warning time.
Best wishes!

more pre-op pampering
My castle date is tomorrow, and I also indulged myself in a little pre-op pamerpering yesterday. I had my pre-op appt at the castle on Friday, so I had all my "instructions". ( My castle didn't say anything about removing nail polish.)
I did the manicure/pedicure thing, as well as the 'facial waxing'. I knew it would be a while before I'd get to do any of those things again, so I thought 'what the heck'. I have a problem with ingrown toenails too, and usually 'fix them' myself, but I also knew that wouldn't be happening anytime in the near future! So I told the girl doing my pedicure to "make it a good one". She did, and my feet feel SO much better today!
I'm at work for the last time for a while....there seems like SO much to do, but I can't get started! Hopefully I'll get motivated soon!
The "list" idea is a great one. I've been doing that for the past few weeks...writing something down as I think of it, 'cause lord knows, there's too much to remember it all!!
Good luck to everyone! I'll post when I'm 'on the better side'!
