Encouragement for Ladies in Waiting

Hi,

I'd like to give some positive thoughts to all sisters who are facing a hysterectomy in the near future. I had a TAH/BSO six days ago, and now I'm home and ready to go horseback riding - just kidding!
But seriously, I am feeling great, I'm off the pain med, and I only have some incision pain when I laugh, cough, sneeze, etc., but it's very bearable.
I had been soooooo afraid of the surgery and the time after. And when reading some of the posts I got even more terrified. Of course - as I have - we more often share the negative than we do the positive. That's why I'd like to let you know that my surgery wasn't bad at all, and I'm feeling so much better than I had ever imagined I would. May you experience the same!

...and welcome home from the castle! Great of you to share your positive experience...I know when I was a LIW, some of the stories here terrified me...but it helped to remember that for every "horror" story we hear, there are hundreds who have had a positive, complication-free recovery like yourself. Be a good princess and pamper yourself!

p.s. where are you from in upstate NY? I'm originally from Yonkers but spent every summer as a child and teenager the Adirondacks! We plan on going camping for 2 weeks there this summer.

s Thanks for the positive feedback. Although I have not scheduled my trip yet to the castle (have a hysteroscopy & lap post-op with my DR on 5/8) I know it will be coming soon. I know what you mean about the negative feedback. It can be a little scary for us LIW .

I am 3 months post op, and I feel better than before surgery. I still have a little brain fog which gets better every day, I tire somewhat easily but I did that when I was anemic from periods, and I have hot flases. I will choose hot flashes over cramps anyday.
Good Luck to all of you LIW. It is definately worth the trip.

I needed this post today
I called my hospital today to check on classes and about a private room. I get one because of the surgery at no extra cost

The whole thing hit me on the drive home from work
Please let us know more when you have a chance I am trying to be happy about this.
