How long did YOUR surgery take?

Okay, ladies

I've heard everything from 15 minutes to 6 hours! We LIWs are dying to know...what type of surgery did YOU have, and how long did it take?

Peace of mind and calm spirits to all!

How Long??

Hi: I had a LAVH/BSO and Bladder Sling and my surgery was done by a gyn and a urologist. It took about 3 1/2 hours. My bowel was stuck to my pelvic wall so it took a while longer. I am almost 6 months post op and doing great!!! The waiting is the worst part. Someone said in an earlier post : "Fear Nothing Girls". I agree completely. If I had it all to do over again, I would do it sooner!!!!!!!

How long did YOUR surgery take?

I had a TAH and surgery was only 45 minutes! 2 hours in recovery though.....most of that time was because they couldn't find me a bed :-)
Good luck to you. I wish you well...

How long did YOUR surgery take?

Hi Simi, I had a tah/bso and my surgery took about 2 hours.

It seems to depend on the type of surgery and any extras - such as bladder repairs or sometimes even tummy tucks.

Best wishes and s

How long did YOUR surgery take?

I had a TVH, which took 45 minutes. The doc planned to do some extra repairs, but things were looking way better than he expected when he got in there, so he finished early.

How long did YOUR surgery take?

I had a TVH, BSO, A&P repair and bladder suspension. It took about an hour and a half, and I was in the recovery room about half an hour.

How long did YOUR surgery take?

I had a TAH/LSO and surgery took 3 1/2 hours due to finding a mass on my left ovary and having to get an oncologist in and having a biopsy done whilst I was still under general. Thankfully the mass was a degenerating fibroid (the blood supply had been cut off to it) and nothing more nasty.

Cheers

Remember too....

that you are in the OR for about 30 minutes or so at least before they actually start the surgery itself. Getting you set up for anesthesia, and prepped and draped. Then the surgery starts.
