Frustrated and Need to Vent.

I was all set mentally to visit the castle today, April 30th. I got called in early because the surgery before me was cancelled. I got changed and had my IV put in. Thirty minutes later I was informed that we were back to the original schedule with my surgery being third. I was bummed but okay. Two hours later my doctor had to inform me that the hospital cancelled my surgery. Apparently, the first surgery went too long and they used up the alotted time for the anesthesiologist and they couldn't do my surgery. I am so frustrated. I have been waiting for 5 weeks for this surgery. I was mentally prepared had the IV in and was ready. Now I am so emotional it is hard to focus. I had to plan out all the details so that my family was set and now I don't even have another date set. It could be next week or next month. Has anyone else had this happen? How do you deal with the letdown. Thanks.

..oh no!

...girl, you certainly DO need to vent. I cannot IMAGINE how disappointed you must be (among other things). You poor thing. I can't imagine being THAT close to have it cancelled. I think they should do everything they can, jump through any hoops they need to, to get your surgery rescheduled within DAYS, certainly not any longer than that. That's cruel and unusual punishment. I'm sorry, I don't mean to make you more upset but this story just enraged me. Here's sending you a HUGE ...PLEASE let us know how it turns out. If I were you I'd be "on their doorstep" until they get you a surgery date...and FAST. Be that squeaky wheel. YOU GO GIRL!

Frustrated and Need to Vent.

Thank you for the support. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I am hoping to have a date by tomorrow morning. My doctor did everything she could to keep it on but she got over-ruled. It really helped to get your responses.

Thanks.

Oh Leesha

I cannot imagine after all your planning and preparation, you were left as you were, I am glad you are to get a new date soon. I agree with the others, do not let them delay, be polite but very, very firm. I have to wait 5 weeks for surgury and it is on my mind constantly, My surgury has already been moved on 1 week because the A Dr took 1 day off, But when you are 5 weeks away, 6 weeks is not very different, but I cannot imagine being there and its cancelled - I have told my dr sec not to do this again.
But who knows.

I feel for you and I hope you get surgury soon.

Frustrated and Need to Vent.

(((Leesha)))

I cannot even begin to imagine how you must have felt when they sent you back home. I have to say, that in all the time that I have been a member here at Hyster Sisters, I have never heard of this happening.

I'm so very, very sorry that it happened to you.

Please keep us posted. I hope that you will be re-scheduled very soon.

Keep at them

I didn't get as far as you did with my first scheduled surgery date. Went to the post-op meeting with a new doctor (mine had left town) he was a partner in the practice. After meeting the guy and having the most sloppy exam ever, Iwent home in tears and called and canceled my surgery. I am now scheduled for the 19th of May.

Had everything set up and am now on the edge of a razor waiting for the new surgery date. As I am uninsured it could be canceled at any time. How inconvient. I hope you will keep at them for a new date that is soon. It's unfortunate that this has happened and I really feel for you. Keep us posted and take some time to pamper yourself while you wait. New hair cut, facial, whatever. Will think good thoughts.

Frustrated and Need to Vent.

After a very emotional three days. I am still surprised at how this has rocked my emotions. Anyway, after many phone calls I am now scheduled for Monday afternoon. I still get my doctor but at a different hospital. I am thankful to have an earlier date and my own doctor, but a little disappointed that I won't have her post-op. Although the first two days I'll probably not even care. The first date they had given me was two weeks away and after what we went through and all the plans I had made for my family I just didn't think that was an appropriate response time. But I did persist and the Lord was very gracious and provided. I'm nervous but looking forward to having this all behind me. Thank you all so much for the support. It has made everything so much nicer.
