sore throat AFTER surgery

I came home on Wednesday afternoon! I had a rough time with the anesthesia- which the Doctor was well prepared for and did a wonderful job with. It's just me, I guess.

Anyway, I have a sore throat that is beat red in the middle. I take motrin for the tummy pain (too sensitive to other pain meds) and it helps my throat until I eat anything with salt or the motrin is wearing off!

Anyone else experience this?

Welcome home!

Yes, I also had a sore throat for a while. It's from the breathing tube and oxygen which can really dry out your throat.

A few days later, I had terrible coughing fits in the middle of the night from the drainage. OUCH! DH was great about giving me sips of water and cough drops. After a few days of sleeping on two pillows, it went away. Chamomile tea really felt good during the day.

If you don't see improvements in a few days, call your DR and ask for some relief.

Good luck, princess!

My throat was sore and irrated too from the tube. I had a terrible time with it as the coughing it caused was painful. I called the doctor and he recommended a cough syrup for me. I used that with a lot of success. It helped the cough and the dryness in my throat. Call you doctor and see which kind is recommended for you. (It could vary a lot due to your health and the types of medication you're on).
I hope it settles down soon.
Take care!
