pre op

My pre op appointment is tomorrw. I have printed out the questions in the pull down menu but was wondering if anyone has any questions that they wish they had asked and didn't. I want to be as prepared as possible. DH is going with me also. That way what one doesn't think of maybe the other one will. Any help will be appreciated. Not sure yet whether it will be TAH or LAVH

pre op

The pulldown menu has a great list of preop quetions. One thing to ask about is whether or not you will have a tummy binder. I came out of the OR with one on and I feel it was a great help to me. I wore it a lot the first couple weeks and weaned myself off of it. It gives you extra support in your abs while you are healing. There are various opinions on the binder. For me though, I am glad I had it. It also serves as a reminder when you start to bend over that you are in recovery.
Best wishes!

Private Room!

The one thing I wish I'd checked into was a private room cost versus semi private (I had a horrible roomie) ---

Also be sure to take the back scratcher --- I used it when I got itches under the compression socks and couldn't reach to scratch!

Thank you so much for the advice.
The appointment went well. DR says TAH for sure but then said he would try to keep one ovary if he could also if there was much bleeding he would leave the cervix. I told him no way I wanted it out. There are many problems with females in my family and I only want to have surgery once. Told him to have a clearance sale where everything must go! He wasn't sure how to take that. Guess he was having a busy day. They drew 5 vials of blood, did an EKG and chest films. It amazes me how they want to make sure you're healthy enough for the hospital. I found that really funny. Guess it was nerves that made me laugh. I'm declaring 7/18/02 my personal Independance day. 8 days and counting. I can't wait!!!
