Patch and Testosterone Gel

My testosterone gel from College Pharmacy is 0.2 mg per 2 cc in H2o gel, apply 1 ml every day. What kind of dose is this compared to everyone else? Also my gel is very liquidy. A little better as far as headache, energy, well-being, but still no libido. Progesterone gel 4 mg per 2cc, 1 ml per day. I have a lot of trouble tolerating progesterone, causes depression, but am doing okay on this dose. Recently changed patch from .1 to .075 and this helped anxiety, pounding headache and blood pressure. Am thinking of trying .05 again, previously got hot flashes and fatigue, memory problems on it, but maybe need to increase testosterone? Also, I am trying the Climara patch for a change. I have always used Vivelle, but I read on a post that they are made from different sources, ya never know. I don't understand the dose of my testosterone either in % or mg? Doesn't it sound very low? I have been back on the progesterone and testosterone for a couple of months.

Patch and Testosterone Gel

Hi Bennie! Is your gel really 0.2mg testosterone per 2cc of gel, and you apply 1cc per day? Here's how to figure out the % of your gel and how many mg you are getting per day:

1/4 teaspoon of an average gel weighs about 1 gram, and
there are 5cc's in a teaspoon

So, if your gel is 0.2mg/2cc or 0.1mg/cc, then

(0.1mg/cc) x (.25t/g) x (5cc/t) = .125mg/gram of gel, or .0125%

And you are getting 1cc x (0.2mg/2cc) = 0.1mg/day

That seems quite low to me, but perhaps the labeling is wrong, or perhaps that is all that your body requires? If you are feeling increased energy, I'd stick with it and see how things go.

It does take a while for the libido to return on testosterone. For me, the energy and moods improved within the first three days or so, but libido took a couple of weeks.

One other thing that strikes me is that it sounds like you are considering changing several things at once. Please consider only making one change at a time and giving each adjustment plenty of time to work its way through your system. You will be glad you did!

Thanks, I knew you were the girl that could give me that answer. The label is correct. Since I seem to be so sensitive, I asked him to start me out low, but I didn't mean that low. I was thinking more like .5 %, then maybe to 1%, if needed. I know I need to be careful about changing too many things at once. I have been at this so long that I pretty much know what my body does on certain doses of estrogen and progesterone. I just wanted to try the Climara since I hadn't tried that brand before. Don't know if I should stay with .075 or try .05 again and maybe a little more testerone after that settles. Before on .05 I started getting dry and not thinking clearly. I don't need near as much estrogen since my depression is under better control. I do feel like this week on the Climara .075 I am having some symptoms of too much estrogen. In the past I have had a lot of trouble with SHBG, so that is why I am trying to keep estrogen replacement low.
