She is not a medical professional. She IS a woman’s educational advocate.
Does HysterSisters accept advertising?
HysterSisters is funded through advertising and member donations. Its advertisers typically include medical device companies, pharmaceutical companies, and other companies that target women’s health needs. Current advertising sponsors are: Noven Pharmaceuticals, Intuitive Surgical, Covidien, Olympus Gyrus, BioSante and others.
What does HysterSisters do?
HysterSisters.com is a woman to woman support website for gynecological medical and emotional issues surrounding the hysterectomy experience. It is not intended to take the place of a personal physician. The HysterSisters site is neither anti hysterectomy nor pro hysterectomy, rather, it is an online community of women who give and receive support for hysterectomy decisions, recovery and treatments. Hystersisters.com offers resources and kindness so that our visitors can discover options and make decisions for themselves.
Hystersisters.com is not a medical authored website. We are a patient to patient support site for women.
What is HysterSisters’ position on hysterectomy? Are you for or against them?
We are a patient support website and advocate for the best patient-doctor relationship. We believe that can be accomplished through peer-to-peer support that helps educate and inform women, and provides them with questions to discuss with their doctors.
HysterSisters is neither pro or anti-hysterectomy. However, at HysterSisters, we put a high priority on the information in its sections titled Alternatives to Hysterectomy and Hysterectomy Options. HysterSisters believes that the healthiest decisions made by patients are in partnership with an experienced medical professional who specializes in specific gynecological areas of need.
What is the HON Code?
The Health On the Net Foundation (HON) promotes and guides the deployment of useful and reliable online health information, and its appropriate and efficient use. Created in 1995, HON is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, accredited to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. For 15 years, HON has focused on the essential question of the provision of health information to citizens, information that respects ethical standards. To cope with the unprecedented volume of healthcare information available on the Net, the HONcode of conduct offers a multi-stakeholder consensus on standards to protect citizens from misleading health information.
HysterSisters participates in the Health on the Net Foundation and proudly displays its certification.
