LAVH/BSO - Hysterectomy can be routine and uncomplicated

From the Vaginal Hysterectomy Stories Articles List

I don't know the jargon so I will use real words. I live in Chicago and am a patient at a world class hospital. My female doctor is conservative and held off doing my hysterectomy as long as reasonably possible. For my health and well-being it was done on May 20th, ovaries and tubes were removed as well, and I returned home on the 23rd. I am 60 years old.

My only problem is intestinal restart and I hope to have that under control within 24 hours. My only pain is incision pain and that's not bad at all. I take a 600 mg motrin twice a day and could probably do without that. I walk comfortably and stand straight.

This surgical procedure, when necessary and uncomplicated, is routine. I hope that women using this website will understand that much of the dialogue they read here is from and about women who have unusual circumstances and problems. When I first saw the website prior to my surgery, I was upset because I assumed I would encounter similar problems. Not the case.

So I encourage women to see their situations as they are and not assume the myriad problems presented by those that have them.
