SHARING IS CARING

Post Op 7days, a lot harder than expected but overall doing well

From the da Vinci Hysterectomy Stories Articles List

March 25th- Had my biopsy for pre-cancerous cells, Dr advised me that a hysterectomy was recommended, I have had 2 LEEPs and still having these issues! So surgery was going to happen on May 9th at 7:30 a.m.

May 8th- I can't think of a better way to spend my Mother's Day than doing a bowel prep It was as horrible as it sounded...no food from the moment I woke up, drank the cocktail of 64oz of Gatoraide and Miralax and dulcolax, lol YUCK! so I pretty much spent the day starving and spending quality time in my bathroom lol

May 9th finally arrives...at 4:30 a.m. we left for the Castle, tired and hungry!!! Arrived at the castle around 5:20 a.m., checked in and got a little surprise from Financial services, was told $75 was our co-pay, we had that ready, then they say it is $150...I guess our insurance raised prices, no surprise but it got paid regardless. Then they call my name and send us up like cattle to surgery prep, there were a few others walking with us to have whatever surgeries they were having. Arrive upstairs, and asked to take a pregnancy test, I laughed but know it's standard procedure...I said I have the Essure device in me but alright I will pee for you, Then get asked the millions of questons, tagged, proded, branded and all that good stuff. Then my wonderful Dr. comes in and discusses the procedure with my DH and I, DH makes jokes with the Dr...it was funny and then they give me something to relax and then darkness..lol Surgery was 3 hrs and went well...I wake up in my my room, I guess I slept through the recovery room and I see my DH sitting there. I was still heavily sedated and it didn't help that they kept giving me morphine Around 5 p.m. I tell my DH he can go home and rest, I didn't mind being on my own, he was just watching me sleep, how boring, but he stuck it out till 5 p.m., so the Nurse came in and asked me to walk around, I was woozy and light headed but I walked the walk. Then did another walk around 11p.m., didn't sleep too well but got a little in. They kept giving me the darn morphine so I asked if I could take it down a notch and have something less mind boggling...in comes percocet...a lot better. The next morning I still felt alright, a little sore, coughing hurt. They said I could stay another night but I was ready to go...so around 3p.m on the 10th I left. This week was painful, my stomach was still numb up until yesterday so now I am out of percocets and I am in more pain then I was days before. I took 100 showers it seems like to feel the warmth, I have been eating normal meals, I did have a BM on Weds, it hurt at first but now it's back to good. I over did it on Friday so Saturday I was down for the entire day. I am up today just to make my presence known, to remind my kids I'm still here lol I have my post op appt on Thursday, hopefully to be cleared to drive because I'm on my own after Thurs. I am glad I had the surgery, no more periods make it worth it lol but most of all the worry of another bad pap due to pre cancerous cells invading my cervix is gone and that makes me happy So now I can say that I am a I hope everyone is having a good recovery!!!!
