Do over-the-counter hot flash relief products work?
As it is with most menopause questions, there is no black or white answer for this question. Some HysterSisters have had good experiences with OTC products, others haven't. And scientific studies on their effectiveness remain mostly inconclusive. The good news is that you can try as many treatments as you'd like until you find one that works for you (with your doctor's approval, of course).

As you explore OTC options, keep in mind is that these products are not regulated by the FDA, which means that there are a lot of variables. For one thing, they can vary from bottle to bottle and brand to brand. For another, positive results may be attributed to placebo effect rather than actual effectiveness. Also, long term use of OTC treatments could potentially lead to new health issues.
