Davinci hysterectomy with pelivic floor repairs

From the da Vinci Hysterectomy Stories Articles List

After several years of increasingly heavy and prolonged periods( or flooding as I called it), as well as some embarrassing moments, I went to a Gynecologist to discuss options and found out that I had large fibroids along with uterine, bladder, and rectal prolapses. Although I had been having hip, back, and urinary tract pain with some UTI's, the pelvic organ prolapse diagnosis was a surprise to me. I did lots of research and decided on Davinci surgery for hysterectomy, bladder sling and rectal prolapse repairs. The surgery was June 7th and brought some surprises for my doctor. In addition to the other issues, he found vaginal prolapse and severe endometriosis in the intestines and rectum which he also took care of. A little over 24 hours later, while the nurse was taking out the packing, the catheter fell out(so no pain with that). I was able to use the bathroom(with no problems) and so released to go home. The first two weeks I rested, walked, repeated and found that standing or lying down was much more comfortable than sitting. I had lots of swelling on my vaginal and rectal areas from all of the repairs, so had to sit or recline on lots of cushion. Hystersisters helped me know what to expect and how to take good care of myself. During weeks 3 and 4, I was able to go to work on three occasions for an hour long meeting on each day and took long rests afterward. As I finish week four, I am comfortable enough to drive, still sit carefully with some cushions and tire very easily, but I am so thankful not to have had any complications. I look forward to slowly easing back in to a full work day and the rest of my life. I am most grateful to have a doctor who listened to my concerns at my first appointment with him, then did complete exams and tests before giving me options. Knowing that he has such experience in Davinci surgery that he trains all of the doctors in this area, makes me feel confident in the outcome and looking forward to full recovery.

Blessings to everyone who is considering surgery or is just beginning recovery!
