Total Abdominal Hysterectomy/1 ovary left

My surgery didn't quite go as planned...My hysterectomy was on October 28th. It was supposed to be a LAVH, but when my Doctor went thru the vagina to cut out the cervix she cut my rectum instead. Usually she goes into that space called the culde sac (?) but my rectum was aheared to my uterus. She immediately got a general surgeon in to stitch me up. At that point she had to switch to an TAV. I had extremely bad pelvic congestion- worst she has ever seen. I literally had a ball of veins wrapped around my left ovary. Luckily my rt ovary vein wasn't too bad, so she left it. The whole surgery took almost 5 hours. When I woke, I was in pain, but it wasnt too bad because I had morphine and I slept. The night was terrible, I didn't sleep for more than 15 minutes at a time. Tuesday I was able to take little walks and pee so I got the catheter out. Wednesday I started to feel bad and my belly was swollen and hard. My heart rate was super crazy fast and every time I sat up my head felt like it had a heart beat. They took blood and I had barely any red blood cells in my body. My blood pressure was 68/42. I was bleeding internally. Back into surgery. The next day (Halloween) my heart rate was still all over the place and I had 3 blood transfusions and a temp of 102. I was moved to another hospital that had an ICU. I literally came very close to dying.
Slowly, I came back and my BP and heart rate were stable. I'm home now and have a visiting nurse and I'm on Lovenox because I have a history of blood clots. It took me about 12 days to have a bowel movement. I'm happy to have made it to the other side. I just sleep and take my meds and dream of the day when I will wake up and feel some what normal. I'm sorry if I'm scaring any pre op ladies. My case was the first my Doctor had ever seen in her 26 years of doing hysterectomies and 99% of the time everything goes as planned. Take care
