While over the counter moisturizers and personal lubricants can relieve some of your symptoms related to vaginal dryness, they don’t treat the underlying problem–lack of estrogen.
Decreasing estrogen levels during menopause affect your body is many different ways. Estrogen is an essential ingredient for healthy skin, including the vaginal tissues. It’s an important ingredient for keeping your vaginal walls healthy, moist, and elastic. There are a variety of estrogen choices you can consider in several different hormone delivery systems, including lower dose vaginal estrogen applied directly to the affected vaginal tissues.
