From the Pelvic Floor Articles List

Get a Grip on Your BladderIf your bladder is getting the best of you, itąs time to get your pelvic floor into shape!

Pelvic floor health doesnąt just affect your bladder and bowel function, it affects your life! Having to go to the bathroom all the time, leaking when you laugh or sneeze‹these can all put a serious damper on your social and work life. A weakened pelvic floor can also mean a weakened response during intimacy. Here are five great ways to whip your pelvic floor into shape.

Get Healthy

Carrying extra weight around can add extra pressure on your pelvic floor muscles. Try setting some goals, teaming up with a gal pal, and starting a fitness program to try to shed some extra pounds.

Get Strong

Yoga not only helps you maintain a healthy weight, but certain poses can help strengthen your pelvic floor. You donąt have to stand on your head to do yoga; there are poses for every age group and ability level. Check out a video at the library or check for classes in your area.

Get Flexing

Kegels are so easy you can do them anytime, anywhere, and no one will know you are doing them. Not only will they help strengthen your pelvic floor, but they may put a little more spice in your intimate life as well!

Get Help

If home remedies arenąt working, try consulting with a pelvic floor physical therapist. These therapists specialize in pelvic floor health and rehabilitation. They typically use a combination of biofeedback and exercises to help rehabilitate your weakened muscles.

Get Quitting

Smoking is known to have adverse effects on almost every part of your body. When it comes to the pelvic floor, the biggest problem can be the coughing that goes along with smoking. Frequent coughing can add a lot of strain to pelvic floor area, which can lead to urinary incontinence and other problems. So if you smoke, there is no better time than today to find the help you need to quit..
