How are you all doing? I am sorry I haven't kept up with this as I should. Sometimes life gets overwhemlming and you cannot do everything.

I ended up having 3 baby bison that were born this year. That is a record for us We usually have 1-2. We are up to 10 bison now. They are all doing really well.

We are in the process of putting up a unique wrap around porch (my personal design) . We hope to have that project done by maybe late August. I am so excited. I have bad sun sensitivity so this will be my dream outdoor living area so I can go outside. I have no place now to get into Shade in this yard I hate living with this. I never get to go to a beach or parks..etc..cause of it. When I get too much sun I break out in a bad rash and get sick and in pain. It's due to possibly lupus that they never ruled out. My fibro is acting up a bit lately, but not real bad.

I do have GREAT news to report since I last wrote. I am going to be a Grandma My son and his wife's baby are due Feb. 5. I am sooooo excited for this and so ready for this new phase of my life. This is our first Grandchild. The word "spoiled" comes to mind..hahahaha!

I pray for this whole board each night. I pray things are going well for you. If it's not, then hang in there and know no matter how bad things get, there is ALWAYS someone else worse off. I find if you keep a good positive attitude it will take you far. Count your blessings and not your problems.

You all take care and God bless each and every one of you!

Sending love, hugs and prayers to all hystersisters out there

Va-Tech Tragedy 04-20-2007 - 08:47 AM
Hi ((Sisters)),

I just wanted to take a moment and give my sympathies and extend prayers to all who are affected by what happened this week at Virgina Tech.

I am at such a loss of words. I just don't understand what this world is becoming.

I don't know if any of my hystersisters are directly affected, but I wanted to at least offer my sympathies and extend prayers to EVERYONE affected.

God bless!
Hugs, love and prayers

Happy Monday Morning :) 04-16-2007 - 08:18 AM
Good Morning, Ladies!

How are you all doing today? I pray whoever reads this is having a great day filled with much laughter (best medicine), God's blessings, and in good spirits.

Thanks to you all who replied yesterday. To answer a few questions the female bison are called Cows and they deliver on their own out in the field. Thee is no problem delivering with the hump. We usually look out and there is a baby roaming with Mom. Bison are wild animals so you can't take them to places to show..now some I have seen..like one lady I met who raised a young one off the bottle and it was more tame. They weigh about 35 lbs when born, but you can't go out and just catch them to weigh. Bison and buffalo are all the same. Buffalo is slang for Bison. I don't name the bison. We have 9 with the new baby now. We have another one due any day and maybe one more pg, we're not sure on that one. So this one will have a little buddy to play with. It's so fun to watch the young ones play together.

I hope I answered some of your question you all asked. I replied here from memory. Thanks for welcoming the little one. I love living here and wouldn't have it any other way. Last year I hatched in an incubator 11 ducklings from eggs I gathered from ducks I was duck sitting for my neighbor. Now I am down to 3..sad huh? The others were killed by those darn coon.

Have a terrific day. My fibro is flared some today so not feeling my best. I am staying in today..to snowy and cold to go out. The winds are fierce..over 55 mph they said. I'm going to crochet. I'm making a round afghan I enjoy crocheting. It's great therapy for these arthritic fingers.

Hugs, love and prayers

New Baby Bison :) 04-15-2007 - 05:48 PM
Hi ((Sisters)),

How is everyone doing? I sure hope great! We had a baby bison born today. It's so cute. I do feel bad because it's only 32 degrees out now, and it's snowing here, but the baby seems to be adapting well.

I had a sad thing happen this weekend. I went out to feed my ducks and found only the bones of one left. A coon came into the pen and ate it. Made me sad, but so goes life on the farm. You have life and death. But it still makes me sad each time something dies. This Wednesday I have another bison we sold that is being taken to the butcher shop. I always hate to see one go, but it's part of life on the farm. I decided not to get pigs this year, since I still have some frozen to use up. I will get a few next year for us and my kids. Also, for anyone who wants me to raise one for them. I can make a few bucks raising one and people know what they're eating.

I am so ready for warmer weather. It's to finally get back up to the 50's by next weekend.

I pray this day finds you all fine, enjoying life, and seeing your blessings God has given you.

Hugs, love and prayers

Burrrr, it's cold out. Baby bison don't come today lol 04-11-2007 - 03:15 PM
I cannot believe this weather we're having. It dropped down to 35 with high winds and showers mixing with snow. Where I live in Pa, it's not uncommon to have this kind of weather in April. But I love it here and wouldn't want to live any where else

I am praying those baby bison stay inside their Mother's tummies lol. They do not want to come out this week. Last year we had one born on Easter morning. That was real nice and special. Each day I wait to see one out there. It's so cute when there are a couple to see them romp and play about.

Oh I am getting old. I had an eye dr. appointment and need a stronger bifocal contact lens. I use accuvue bifocal contacts. Since my hysterectomy I feel like I've aged lol. Any of you feel that way????

Thanks to all who replied to me. Spiritmaiden, if you're reading this, did you get your surgery yet? I've been wondering what you decided to do.

Have a great evening and I will keep you all posted when a baby is born. I have also one more cat that is going to give birth. I already have 8 kittens and who knows how many more this one will add. Anyone want a kitten??? They're FREE LOL.

Love, hugs, and prayers

Where did Spring go???? 04-10-2007 - 07:30 AM
Good Morning ((Sisters))!

It's such a cold morning here. Our local news last night said Easter was colder than New Years Day, and Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day. We got around 3 in. of snow in the past 3 days too, but it melts mostly around mid day.

Each morning I anxiously look out my window in the field to see if any baby bison were born. Oh how I love Spring on the farm and new birth and growth. I had two cats outside that each had kittens, 8 of them Now when they're bigger I'll have to put a "free kittens" sign out. Both Mother cats have all their kittens together and are sharing the responsibility and feeding each other's babies, it's really cool. I never seen that before, how sweet

Hey, NoniOhio, I also have some osteoarthritis in my one knee along with my fibro. I can relate to how you feel. It's hard to get that balance we so need. Thanks for responding.

I hope you all have a great day today. Keep those chins up, stay strong and positive. Remember our struggles make us stronger women and the changes we face make us more wise. Hummm, that being said, I should a very wise and strong women with all I've endured lol.

Take good care of you!

Hugs

Hello! My first entry :) 04-08-2007 - 06:56 PM
Hi ((Sisters)),

I have been a member of hystersisters since Aug. 06. I just recently looked at some journals and thought I'd start my own. This looks fun

I had my hyster on 9/06 due to endometrial cancer. My surgery was my cure and luckily I did not need further treatment. Thank you God!!!

I'm hoping some of you will remember me. I have talked with many on here, but don't see a lot of them here anymore I hope some of you are still out there.

I will tell you a little about me. I am 45, married 26 yrs. I have a 26 yr. old son, and a 22 yr. old daughter. I live on a small farm and we raise bison. I have 8 of them and two, possibly 3 are pregnant. I have several dogs, cats, the bison, and ducks. I am planning on getting some chickens this Spring sometime. We raise pigs too, but not this year.

I also have fibromyalgia, and possible lupus. I have been through a lot the last 5 yrs. with my health and then the cancer struck, but I am strong and I will survive. I believe in being positive and thankful for the things I have.

I pray you all have a good night and had a very happy and blessed Easter! I hope to hear from some of you

Good Night and sweet dreams...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Love, hugs and prayers!
