Today is my 3 Year Hysterversary! 02-05-2005 - 06:43 PM
Today is my 3 year hysterversary! I have no regrets, had a wonderful, easy recovery, and I feel great now! I didn't realize until after surgery (and recovery) how truly terrible I felt before. I was tired all the time - I'd get home from work and have to take a nap before I could fix dinner, then after dinner I'd have to take a nap on the couch, and then go to bed. I dragged through my days, and my moods were a constant hormone roller coaster. Heck, I didn't even like being around me, I feel sorry for all those who had to put up with me!

Today I'm hormonally balanced, no bladder issues, and none of the other problems that a lot of ladies worry about before surgery. DH and I bought new bikes last year and ride several times a week (in the summer, it's a little tough in the winter ) I walk on my treadmill at least 3 times a week for 45 minutes

I have no regrets at all about having surgery.

I'm so glad to hear your wonderful story. I am at nine months post op and don't have any regrets either. I delayed my surgery far too long and suffered the price. Now I wish I hadn't waited so long. My quality of life is much, much better!

Happy Hysterversary ML! I'm really glad you are feeling so well -physically and mentally!!! :

With regards to your previous entry -- I don't quite get the feelings of loss for a uterus - but I know that after my surgery I did go through a sense of loss - I now think it was (and still is) a sort of disorientation - I sort of hit a time in life too early. - that is in a way I'm menopausal because I don't have a period, but then hormonally I'm not menopausal, and I truly think that is physically and mentally confusing.
I'm still trying to figure it out - I don't miss the periods, (I agree, I never felt they were special and when Mom said "oh, now you are a woman" I thought "eeeeeeeww yuk and I DON'T think so!!!"--- I certainly don't feel less of a woman, but in a sense I do feel I've lost part of ME.... and I still haven't been able to articulate it well, but it does sometimes bother me.
