A Little get away 02-26-2007 - 11:05 AM
Well, I'm in Denver visting my son and his wife and my dd and her dh. I made a last minute decision to fly down and have a few days away. I got here about supper time on Sat.
It's nice to have a break from home sometimes, especially when there's a lot happening. I think my dh knew I needed a break. He pretty much insisted that I go and they seem to be surviving without me.
I'm waiting for my dd to come pick me up and we're going shopping today. My youngest dd turns 17 on March 4 and I'm going to go buy her a fossil watch she's wanting. I can save shipping and be sure to have it when I need it too. I love the outlet mall here and hope to find some new jeans at the Gap outlet or Banana Republic.
I started reading the series, The Mitford Years by Jan Karon. I've just started the second book and would love to just sit and read. The flight provides nice reading time.
I fly home tomorrow. It's a nonstop flight and is only about an hour and a half so I'll be home about 1 pm.
I'll be glad to get home, but the break has been nice.
When I get home I'm seriously going to get started on my diet. And I really mean it this time. We've been eating like there is no tomorrow and this has just got to stop. I put on some pants this morning and had trouble zipping them.

Thank You 02-20-2007 - 10:05 AM
Wow, I'm over whelmed with the very kind welcome you all have extended to me. I look forward to getting to know more of you too.

To answer a question 24 is on Fox on Monday nights at 8 o'clock here anyway.

It's looking like my dh may not go back to work. This is part of the situation we are working through. He has been told he needs both knees replaced now and also has a bulging disk in his neck. He's working toward trying to work until he's told he won't be allowed to, which we feel is probably going to happen.
He's a locomotive engineer-he drives trains and is just two years away from completing his 30 yrs and receiving full retirement. If this happens we will also be left with no health insurance.

I am a woman of faith, at least I have always tried to be, but I can honestly say I struggle with being afraid. I guess the unknown can do that to you. I do believe God is faithful and I put my trust in Him. This season in our lives is stretching us though.

We're in the midst of planning a wedding, which is fun. This is my third oldest dd and it's quite a story. She became pregnant when she was a sophomore in high school and had my grandson, Jacob when she was 16. At that point in time the father was making big plans for college and not able to accept this responsibility. He has always supported her financially, but cut her off emotionally, wouldn't even talk to her.
To make a long story short, they are getting married in Aug. Jacob is 8 and they will finally be a family.
I didn't really believe this would ever happen because they honestly hated each other for so long. This is a complete turn around. My dh, on the other hand, has prayed for it from the beginning.
Anyway, one night last spring he asked her if they could talk and humbled himself, apologized, cried, said she was the only person in the world with the same first priority as him (Jacob). It's just the best love story.

We are going today to look at and order the flowers and also to look for colored fabric to make little covers for the tables. We also need to rent over 30 vases for flowers. We're going to order the flowers and make all the bouquets ourselves oh and the arrangements for the reception tables. We did it for my last dd's wedding too and it was very fun and turned out beautiful. I'm praying it will all come together this time too.
Better get to work. Thanks again for the warm welcome. You all made my morning today.

I've been on Hystersisters almost three years now and this is my first attempt at journaling here. I see it's a whole nuther world here, a place to pour out your heart to yourself and others if they care to read.

I need a place to sort my thoughts right now, so I'm going to try to do that here some. I need to keep some of it between me and the Lord, but I don't mind the idea of others having a look into my head, I guess.
I love this place (HS) so it seems fitting to record some of thoughts and happenings here.

So much happening in my life. I have a dh who is not working because of multiple injuries at work, just recovering from double hernia surgery at this point. We are finding it very interesting to learn how to have him home all the time. After several months, it's getting easier, most of the time. We still have a lot to learn.

We decided to start watching 24 on tv together. It's part of our attempt to find common interests. I find it hard not to bring the laptop with me to watch...lol. I have had to learn to balance my time on the computer more. Anyway, we're liking the show a lot. It has taken some time to get acquainted with the cast, but it's coming and we're hooked.

It's time for bed. My body wakes me up very early all on it's own so I need to get to sleep. This is a good start here. I think I'm going to like this.
