I had abdominal hysterectomy, and 2 nights in hospital, and we stopped at Walmart on the way home and I went in. As everyone says, each person is different. But I'd say to see if your hubby can be home for at min. the first 2 days to see how you are doing.

We planned ahead. Shopping for food, things easy to fix, or pop in microwave. Made sure to have anything that would require lifting done. The surgery itself just makes many of us very tired, and the need to sleep a bunch. I had little appetite for days after, and then the issue of gas, constipation. Not much hubby could do to help, but good to have him around until I knew I could function from bed to kitchen, to bathroom. Which was about al I did.
