I'm back ..more invovled surgery..longer stay..but all went well...

I'm back from the castle as well. I was supposed to have a Laporscopic hysterectomy on Tuesday, but it didnt go as planned. When my Doctor got in there she found not just fibroids but, extensive endometrious, and severe adhesions invovling my bowels, bladder and well most of everything. She also had trouble keeping my bleeding under control therefore I lost 2 1/2 times the amount of blood then normal. She had to cut me open and do extensive repair and as a result she had to remove my left ovary, my right remains. I had to remain in the hospital extra 2 days due to the blood loss, but my blood count was 8.7 and holding so they let me come home. I have a follow up visit on Wednesday. Pain hasnt been too bad, and i only take the percocet if i really am in a great deal of pain... take care Sisters...

Best wishes

Best wishes on your recovery. I have a similar procedure set for 9/12/06. I'm hoping they can remove the cyst on my ovary and the large one behind the uterus without removing everything. How did you do coming out of general anesthesia? I'm a little nervous myself.

My GA 'lift' was difficult. I was hazy and stayed that way for what seemed liked a long time, although it couldn't have been more than 45 minutes. I knew when I woke they had converted as my mom had said 'if you wake with heavy warm blankets, you'll know'. Maybe it was easier to hear that then and slowly absorb while I was still hazy.

All else I remember about it was asking for ice chips and her saying I had to stay awake with them. The next thing I remember was it seemed to take forever to get to my room. I dosed most of the night, sleeping a while and then being awake.

One more question

Thanks so much for the information. I also want to ask if you were aware of the endometriosis prior to surgery. Did you have pain in relation to it? I was wondering because my doctor suspects the cysts are endometrial. I've always heard endometriosis was very painful for those who suffered from it, and the periods were bad; yet I have normal periods with some pain every month, so I wouldn't have known it was endometriosis if it weren't for the cysts showing up in the sonogram.

Thanks,
Michelle
